PJ Woodland - Time to address the Elephant in the Room

This guy is running with the 1s in spring practice and all reports are saying he’s doing very well. He has the ideal build for corner.. just needs to add some weight. I’m excited about this guys potential and hope he remains in the mix for a lot of playing time.
I seem to remember all the national signing day recruiting experts on this board were pissed when he signed but it seems as if he’s poised to be the next great under the radar recruit. It’s almost as if the staff knows what their doing player eval wise… hmmm

He’s been a favorite on the recruiting board for a very long time. This thread is stupid.

Nah, you might want to read his commitment thread
It was a lot of “we lost ondre evans and cai bates and are replacing them with 3 stars!!1!1!1!!”
Enjoy

Those are the people who come around the Recruiting Board around every year at a certain time. They just like to get mad like little children and have no fricking clue

I don't but I may have just put that off as guys being pissy, we get that. A guy like Woodland should always be looked at as at least a good depth piece with the potential to be much more.

He was listed as 5'11" as a recruit, I don't think that is ideal height but he may have grown a bit. But if he has speed and cover skills the only drawback at 5'11" is covering the taller receivers on 50/50 balls.

whats the elephant part? man you make awful threads

The fans who knew he was underrated and knew it was a weight thing that docked him. The consensus was great athlete that needs to gain some weight for SEC play. Idk where that ever came from

No one was pissed he signed. Some were mad we lost Cai Bates and the other 4 star but zero people were mad we signed woodland.
I am happy we found this diamond in the rough but if you ask me, him taking 1st team reps is equally Woodland being good as much as it is evidence of how bare our cupboards were.

What I'm saying is 100% true. Reading a signing day thread when a loud handful of mouthbreathers visit the website does not a consensus make. Most of the recruiting board, for well over a year, has been saying PJ Woodland is a hidden gem and a great add to the class.

Whatever, same thing in effect. A singular event that brings out a loud minority of dumb people that don't actually follow this shite.
The point is a TON of people on this board, I'd say a majority, have been very high on PJ Woodland and this thread is just stupid.

Disagree, Woodland is a take in any class. Causey is definitely a depth piece though. A player like Woodland is a take in any class. Causey is definitely a depth piece though.
I think the main issues that posters had was losing two 4* recruits in the first place. Even if both had underwhelming senior years and their rankings slipped some.

PJ Woodland Signed

I was critical, not because of talent but because of the circumstances in which his commitment was taken. It gave off troublesome signs of ineptness.
Kid visited one weekend, left campus with no offer and all insiders reported he wouldn't be in the class and OM predictions were made. A mere 5-6 days later, Evans evidently caught our staff completely off guard by flipping to UGA and Woodland is invited in again that weekend, gets offered and commits. That is the definition of backup plan no matter how you try to explain it away as something else. Where's the problem in stating the obvious?
Excuses rolled in from insiders and the immediate go to was the plan was always 4 and this is just that materializing. The talk was Bernard Causey was the makeup for Evans. Problem with that was, Causey had already been offered while Woodland was passed over, Causey was already targeted as the 4th CB prior to Evans' decommital and predictions were already in for him to flip from OM.
When the circumstances of the facts and the story don't line up, a story obviously fed by LSU sources based on the fact all insiders pushed the same story immediately, how is it supposed to be taken by those that follow such things? For me personally the talent of Woodland was fine. The story and sunshine pumping were the issue. We can credit the staff with unearthing a possible gem but let's not pretend even they didn't see its worth at the outset.
