Entitled Veteran Thinks Laws Don't Apply To Him

On November 14th, 2023. An officer was called to the airport regarding a man who refused to pay for his tab at a bar. When speaking to the manager he said that he refused to pay because he's a veteran, the officer then spoke to the man and he started to get hostile after refusing to listen to the officer's commands. After trying to explain to him that he did not pay for his tab, he tried to say that he paid with his credit, but did not have a receipt or anything to prove his claim. He also stated that he's an ex-marine and kept asking "have you ever been to war?". The man eventually realized he did not pay for the tab and apologized for causing a scene, he then agreed to pay for it. However, when walking to the bar, he started to get confrontational again with the officer and kept asking if they'd ever been to war, eventually leading to the officers taking him down. This is the body-cam footage of the events that followed.

Is he really a Marine, and if so, did he really see combat? A lot of people lie about that shite.

I'll bet he's either...
1) not a veteran
Or
2) a veteran but never saw combat

On one job we had a marine that lost his shite and was threatening to shoot us if we got on his property. I talked to him calmed him down somewhat and he apologized saying he did two tours in Iraq and had ptsd which that’s cool I get it. Then I was talking to his neighbor about the incident and the neighbor told me the guy was a meteorologist or some shite. So this “marine” weatherman was traumatized by his time predicting the weather while on base. I lost any respect and empathy I had for the guy once I found this out. It’s like me claiming I swam in shark infested waters because I’ve been swimming in the Gulf of Mexico.

Thought this was gonna be a thread about Richie Suarez.

I know it is some what taboo to say but not all Veterans are good people. I served with a few that were total pieces of shite. Even the nobliest of professions have their percentage of bad people.

Thankful I'm a jovial drunk and not a "have you ever been to war" drunk.

I am a 26 yr vet. You are 100% correct. Not all vets are good people. After watching just 2 minutes of this, he was drunk or whatever. The police handled him properly.

Been around some real badarses , and really only knew how much of a badarse they were after their deaths, from people who served with them at their funerals. Been around them my entire life, and the thing they never talked about was their service. Just seems weird after hearing about how they survived some situations, and pretty amazing exploits, but yet, they don’t even want to talk about it. So yeah, think this dude is suspect….

Don't know where I heard this, but apparently a lot of PTSD I'd people who never saw combat. Apparently not actively doing anything while sitting in a building constantly worrying a rocket is going to hit it, while only having the control to keep on with your white collor type responsibility, can be worse than being an armed guy on patrol. Not sure if I buy it, but at least explains how so many claim PTSD.
I know someone in the drone program and apparently they do deal with some shite. I think they are all required to see a therapist or something like that. You aren't there, but you see and take part in some terrible things.

Wouldn’t a real marine have said former marine not ex-marine?

I've never heard any marine call themselves an "ex marine". Those guys are pretty adamant about "once a marine, always a marine". I'm betting he's lying.
I knew a guy that used to talk about being in Vietnam. Claimed he had ptsd from the war. I mentioned that to his brother in law who laughed at me and said the guy never served in the military period, much less went to Vietnam and that he was like 12 at the height of the war.

It was not that long ago that this jerk would have been on his face on the ground within the first 3 minutes. He threatened that officer early on. Back in the day, you would have been eating concrete just for that. Sucks being a cop these days.

Honestly I don't even know if the % of them that are pieces of shite is any better than the general population. I know a lot of great people that are vets and I know a lot of pieces of shite that were vets. Just like the non vets that I encounter in life.

There are no "ex Marines", Once a Marine Always a Marine.

I knew a guy who claimed he was a photographer in Vietnam. Now, he was an excellent photographer and a nice guy. He had a lot of interesting stories. My ex and I invited him and his wife over for a New Years day lunch of peas and greens and cornbread and, during lunch, I mentioned something about his time in Vietnam. His wife looked at him and said, "When were you in Vietnam?" He said nothing and I changed the subject.
We had a good laugh about that after they left. I can imagine the conversation they had on the ride home.
