Told my wife when he put the pitcher in who gave up the HR that eventually he would give up one and he did. Unfortunately, it was after he hit a batter before giving up the HR.

Do you realize he’s pissed away multiple games with dumb arse decisions? Jimbo won a natty does that make him a good coach? Jesus you people can be insufferable. It is okay to question a coaches decisions. Jay is a relentless amazing recruiter. Doesn’t make him a great manager.
Edited: outside of some phenomenal performances by some guys last year on the bump, and an unworldly play by Tre we wouldn’t have won it all.

I know he wants to play the analytics but this religious devotion to it leaves you with holes in other areas and when things aren’t clicking and you need those things you either can’t execute, or like tonight, don’t even bother trying it. I think he’s a really good coach too but we need a little more conventional style mixed in so we can win in different ways.
Honestly, I have an issue with it too. I love analytics and data and using it to your advantage. I've have many conversations about this subject regarding more than just sports.
But if you're only relying on analytics, you're not really seeing the whole picture or scope. Again, not sure that translates on TD, but it's not 1 or 0, you're not flipping a switch.

Don’t do this

I agree 100%. Analytics are important, but there is paralysis by analysis. A lot of baseball is feel. It is proven by many teams analytics don’t always get it done. It is frustrating to watch relievers throw to one damn guy.

No let’s do this. Jay inherited the best baseball player in college in the last 5 or so years and Skenes developed perfectly. A lot of things went our way last year. He looks overmatched right now. That is the truth. Every decision he has made this season in crunch time has bit him in the arse. Right or wrong?

Exactly, nothing wrong with it but there are other aspects you need to master as well. No better example of needing those other aspects than this season.

Jay pulling Hellmers after one batter and putting in Loer had me throwing things at the tv

At some point, with the baserunning mistakes, bad AB’s, mindless errors, bad pitch calls, bad play, and point the fingers at the coaching staff? The talent is there. Everyone with a baseball brain can tell you that. Many teams out performing us would kill for our talent.

Good thing I live in a camper.

This is probably the first rant thread criticizing Jay with actual nuance and I agree. Something isn’t clicking and now I’m taking a harder look at the staff than I previously did. Still a big Jay fan but this season has been painful to watch

Say, how did he get skenes?

Agree 100 percent. It’s hard to watch. I could have coached our team last year.

Did I not say he was a relentless recruiter?

The pitching staff made steady improvement as the year went on. Some guys who looked shaky got better over the year.
