re: The ‘growing crisis of the young American male’ could send home prices falling for years

It's hard for me to purchase a home when it costs me $3.00 a minute to video chat with my girlfriend on Onlyfans.

Then why do the statistics not show that for young men?

This is a ridiculous point.

“Plight of the younger generation” give me a break you. Get off Reddit and you’ll realize the world isn’t so bad.
I didn't say the world was bad I said I can get where they are coming from. You not realizing the changing landscape of the country and what the youth are dealing with are why you either already are or will be a terrible parent who never connects with their kids.

define “success” because you need more than that these days
Not living in your mom and dads house at 25
Not at all. I moved out of the house at 18. I paid rent until I was 30, I bought my first house.
My brother lived with my parents til 27. He is a petroleum engineer. He bought a much more expensive house than I did when he was 28 and had a bigger savings account. Even though he was making slightly more money than I did at the time, he had much more than a slightly bigger savings account.
We’re both “successful” in that we own homes and save a lot every month, but no one would look at me and him and call me the successful one because he lived at home til he was 27.

Wasnt this proven to be fake news?
I honest to God do not trust a single thing the news puts out about the percent of home ownership being PE. The lying press has been running cover for corporate America for decades from everything from pay, to employment to offshoring of jobs. Why wouldn’t they continue lying to cover up how bad actual home ownership rates are? Hell they lied their asses off about inflation and the economy these last few years, whats a few more lies about home ownership?

i'm genuinely curious how much of an impact this has had. this seems to be one of the biggest "wE hAtE tHe bOoMeRs" complaints, but the boomers have been doing this for decades at this point, and it is only recently that this has become such a big complaint. plus i dont think a retiree who has a few properties he uses for side income should be considered "rich people buying up homes" (but in fairness, this might not be what you are referring to)
I don’t fault people who have the means of purchasing additional homes for income in doing so. But ultimately when they buy these properties and rent them out either via Air BNB or to local residents this decreases the overall inventory available in the area. I have a family friend who sold his house in California for a small fortune and moved to Nashville where I live. He bought his current home and 4 townhomes from the proceeds of that sale and rents those townhomes out. I dont blame him for doing so but this negatively affects inventory in the area. What once were 4 properties that a first time home buyer could realistically target are now only available for rent. This isn’t some millennial vs boomer rant, there’s millennial who have enough money who do as such. And before anyone accuses me of being some socialist, I have been a registered Republican my entire life.

LOL. You can’t think of any other cultures in AMERICA that doesn’t do very well by their children? Perhaps one where single moms are either the norm or becoming the norm, where generational wealth largely doesn’t exist, where a large part of young men end up spending time in jail..
I don't consider that a culture, as I don't consider them to even be humans

Single family homes with multiple baby daddies is definitely a western white thing

I apologize for wanting to save and leave my children with finances to help them in their life?
That’s all I got. Have a better day man.

ah yes, rural people from the younger generations are killing it compared to their suburban and urban counterparts
I was responding to a point about "toxic masculinity", not saying that rural kids do better.
Nowadays knowing how to do stuff for yourself is considered toxic for whatever reason.

Good, maybe the boomers will start paying attention to societal issues now since it's effecting home prices.
We might actually get something done instead of having a bunch of people say "it doesn't effect me, therefore there's no problem."

There is also a growing disconnect between how men and women are viewed as a whole.
Men see women as attractive or unnatractive.
Women see men as attractive or essentially a threat to their life.
If a girl asks me out and I'm not interested I might give them a "you seem like a nice person but sorry".
Guys get "you are a creep" "I'm going to call the cops" "I'd never" or will just blast their faces telling other girls to stay away.
Guys are viewed as less than a person and girls are viewed as less than a person.
The only difference is that one group is praised for it.

definitely not going to accuse you of being a socialist, lol. your post was good, and i appreciate your perspective. didnt mean to come across like i was calling you out either.
i do think my point still stands though that boomers and older millenials have been buying property to rent out forever though, so i dont see how it's suddenly part of the crisis. maybe i'm just not dialed in on the topic that well.

It isn’t really hesitancy.
Think back to how you interacted with and the things you did with your peers when you were a young adult.
You would go to house parties, the mall, arcades, the movies, etc.
Kids LITERALLY do not interact with each other in person anymore.
This preceded Covid.
The lockdowns just put it in overdrive.
A lot of that was ruined before covid. Public interactions were a lot better when there was more societal trust.
Most millennials got a watered down version of this before it died halfway through their lives and Gen Z has got none of it.
Video games are partly to blame as well as by far the most common hobby of younger boys which doesn't require any real life interaction, but our society has destroyed everywhere people used to meet. Whether it's crime or loss of faith, or placing importance on jobs/money over community.
Malls-dead
Churches-dead
Outdoor play-dead
What are kids supposed to do anymore? They've either been priced out or it's a shite show.
I blame this on the feminization of society as led by Karen safety-ism policies.

I've done my duty as a parent; my children have successful careers and zero student loan debt, thanks to mom & dad.
Should the wife and I now choose to live our lives with little regard or thought of what we'll leave the kids as inheritance, then so be it.
