Anything in medicine - doctor, nurse, surgical technician, any type of therapist, radiologist, etc
Those types of jobs aren’t going away

What would you recommend to an 18 year old heading to college today in terms of a promising job/career with lots of growth, high demand, and potential going forward?
I would say find something that you’re content with. You don’t have to really love it. Besides, if you search got that perfect profession or career, you might never pick one because there are many drawbacks to all careers. You can apply that love or passion to a hobby instead. Second, try to be real good at your skills and make sure skills will be in demand.
But 18 is so young that you have plenty time to do trial and error. Making big money immediately is not that important.

Supply Chain/Logistics. You don't have to be a genius. Anybody with a decent brain and work ethic can make a good living and hit over $100K with 5-7 years experienceZ

They’ll all become a “doctor of nurse practice” anyway

Also recommend meteorology (Miss St or Texas Tech)

HVAC during the day, then BA in Business Admin at night. Start your own company after a few years experience.

I’d like my son to get into building automation or industrial engineering.
Especially in Louisiana.

Academia is so fricking out of touch with industry today, even in engineering school

I find these threads to be some dumb.
So much variable. What does the kid like? How smart is he? How long does he want to stay in school and such.
