If I was young, I would keep working. Since I am not young, I would stop working and only do work on my terms, such as help out my family and friends if called upon.

Combined with what I got on hand already I would be WAY done.

In 2026 you might be able to buy slightly better bugs with 5 million but you’ll still be living in the poverty pod neighborhood

4% annual return is 200k a year. 4% is pretty conservative.

I wouldn't quit my job but i would negotiate that i was always on vacation but would have to answer calls.

I would probably still work about 5 more years. I still have some details to clean up.
(5 million, while nothing to sneeze at, is just not the money it was even 5 years ago.)

I would quit what I do but do something more fun/relaxing on my terms…I can’t just sit around all day

I would not continue with my current job even though I enjoy it overall. But I would probably work part time in some capacity doing something I really want to do.

I've been seeing a lot of these hypotheticals on the OT lately. Can we eventually quit starting it with "if" and make it happen

Give me 5 mil and the only work I'd be doing is 12 ounce curls
Posted on 3/21/24 at 2:55 pm to Thundercles
No. I'm retiring in August. Would speed up the process 4-5 months.
Posted on 3/21/24 at 2:56 pm to Thundercles
No. I would retire to Mexico.

That’s like a couple million in pre-Biden dollars so yeah, a baw would need to keep working.
