Squatters' rights are bullshite laws that should not exist. Squatters are subhuman pieces of shite who deserve no rights. Unfortunately, squatters' rights are nothing more than a very successful tool in the left's war on private landlords.

Squatter's Rights and Civil Forfeiture are two laws in the books that need either a serious overhaul or total elimination altogether. They are both complete bullshite and are misused by greedy a-hole thieves to frick over normal people.

I will NEVER understand the concept of "squatter's rights".

Why do these blue states allow this?

All states have some form of "Squatters rights"- - even Louisiana. The biggest distinction is how long the "squatter" occupies the property before rights devolve to them.

who pays for the utilities of these squatted homes?

or do they just live in them without running power and water?
I think alot of squatters will pay one of the utility bills to provide proof that they are a "tenant". In most cases, property owners are not allowed to cancel utilities once a squatter is in there.

He then waited for an open window when he knew the squatters had left the home for the day.

“I went in and put up cameras, and secured the back door that had been broken into,” Shelton recalled.

He then moved all of the squatters’ furniture and belongings into the driveway. When they returned to the home, he explained the situation to them, that they did not have a legitimate lease and that once he locked the home up and left, they would not be able to re-enter the property.

Following this successful operation
The scary and most absurd part of this is basically that this only worked likely because those squatters didn't call the cops and/or have a fake lease.

If they did and decided to raise a stink, he probably would have encountered the same nonsense the main person in the OP did.

This is just one of those laws I'll never understand and/or why are there no politicians seemingly trying to change this nonsense...

The beginning of the end of ownership rights.

What's next, people will be able to "borrow" your car without permission.

The sooner these frickers bodies are stacked by the curb on a regular basis, the sooner this shite will end.

Those that defend this shite are the same ones that support open borders and sanctuary cities.

It would be time for me to employ the CQB training I got in the Marines that I still train on until this day. Except now I got way better toys

This law is total BS and needs to go away with yesterday.

One of the ultimate aims of the Left and the Democratic Party is the elimination of private property rights. Anything that leads to the erosion of these in American society is supported by them.

I know folks like to throw out the popular political cliches with no thought put into the topic, but the issue is not new laws, but very old laws that need to be changed.

Someone please explain to me (a rational explanation) how this is a thing. How is it not trespassing? Help me understand so I won’t think I’m losing my mind.

I believe it's supposed to be an administrative thing, much like civil asset forfeiture, that has become such a raging disaster we need to heavily curtail.

Politics have broken so many people.

In this thread, we see people think these are just brand new laws passed in blue states.

They can't fathom that they're in red states and have been around for over 100 years or more because it doesn't fit their narrative.

The worst part, no amount of explaining or posts they read will change their opinions. The next time this thread topic pops up, the same people will come in and say the same things.

Yeah everyone here likes to talk a big game about how they would deal with these scumbag squatters but good luck that’s how you land in serious legal trouble

I'm thinking never and once found to be squatting, you're arrested and charged for breaking and entering or whatever else and however many other laws that you possible broke.

Exactly

I get wanting to do all of the absolute worst stuff dudes are posting about, 100%

But most of us with homes probably have a wife and kids, many young kids. If you care about your kids, those scumbags aren't worth going to jail for years, so it's just not worth it.

The law should be that squatters have no rights and will be arrested for trespass and evicted unless they have a good faith basis for being there based upon a writing from the owner.

In Louisiana, possession for a year or more allows someone to file a possessory action.

I mean there's threads and stories all the time that say otherwise.
