I see many situations where a big kid in HS overpowers the teacher and has access to a gun

Once upon a time my brother was the sponsor of the Gun Club at the high school where he taught.
Students would bring their rifles or pistols to club meetings at school. He had access to a firing range where they would go and practice. Never had any problems.

Then a person already committed a felony and would laugh at it being a "gun free zone".
I think a lot of my frustration with gun detractors is the fascination with gun free zones being somehow immune to violent individuals bringing guns to said zones. Someone that is already set on committing violence will not give a shite about an added charge.

What could possibly go wrong?
A lot for those that would like to enter and shoot up schools.
pssttt. Check this out...
This law, it would just decriminalize the teachers that are already carrying firearms today in schools.

Every one of you that supports constitutional carry and not this is a huge hypocrite

Seems like this should come with extra training or certification maybe.
Lawmakers aren’t gonna care about that since they’ve already rolled back permit requirements.

Or in those videos you see where the kids fight the teachers, one of the kids will take the gun and shoot the teacher.
I was thinking when the student attacks a teacher for taking his phone and the teacher kills him in self defense.
Not that their is anything wrong with that

Ok, pal. Would love for you to put a number/% on teachers who are already packing at school. It's closer to zero than it is 1000, nationwide, if I had to guess.

As a teacher, I don’t think it’s a good idea at all. There are about two people on our entire faculty that I would trust to carry at school. You can give most of these women as much training as you want, and most of them are still either going to make a really bad decision with the gun or have it taken away from them by a student in a critical situation.
You take an anonymous vote by the teachers as to whom they would trust to carry a gun, not whom you wouldn’t trust. You then interview those people and get them trained.
Problem solved.

I've thought for years that every school should have at least three or four armed teachers and/or faculty on campus. Give those who volunteer some kind of financial bonus. I'm sure some local police forces or National Guard units would give free weapons courses to those who volunteer two or three times a year to get them certified.

The pussies on here afraid of guns would never approve of it. Just get rid of all guns. That’s their solution.

Again, that isn't how this works at all. #constitionalcarry

All for it. End soft targets.

Yea, that world hasn't existed in decades.

I am a teacher and I have a lifetime CCP. I would be willing to go through extensive training by law enforcement to be able to carry my gun in school. I feel that teachers would also need to pass a phycological evaluation as well to be able to carry. In addition, teachers would need to be able to pass certain test and scenarios to make sure they would be able to handle the situation appropriately.
This has been my position as well. I'm all for concealed carry, but teachers deal with a ton of stress along with some pretty shitty people that are students. That stress can create a bad reaction, and the last thing we need is an angry teacher pulling on a bad student.
I also believe not every teacher should be carrying. This is more for strategical purposes. If nobody, especially the students, know which teachers are carrying, it prevents any of the bad ones from pulling a stunt in which they try to get that gun. Also it would create uncertainty in the minds of any attackers when they attack a school. If they know who is carrying, they can either target them first or avoid them.

Why should school be different than anywhere else?

They should have to do this to teach. It is clear that there are many who wouldn't pass.

also, if a tiny lady teacher is carrying a gun, wouldnt it be very easy for a male to overpower her and steal her gun if he wanted to?
Ideally the students wouldn't know if a particular teacher was carrying or not because the teachers keep that info to themselves and do a good job of keeping their weapon concealed at all times.

The school I coach at already has concealed carry, private school. No issues.

Anyone who has to try and teach 30 little assholes in a classroom all day has to be mentally tough!
