Kiran: Proposed bill would allow teachers to carry concealed weapons on school campuses

I'm torn on this one. Seems like this should come with extra training or certification maybe.

Freedom comes at you fast. Teachers would be absolute morons to not get advanced training if they plan on concealing, but it's nice to see the pendulum swinging back.

You're not wrong at all, and that's from someone who is extremely sympathetic to this kind of legislation.

I am a teacher and I have a lifetime CCP. I would be willing to go through extensive training by law enforcement to be able to carry my gun in school. I feel that teachers would also need to pass a phycological evaluation as well to be able to carry. In addition, teachers would need to be able to pass certain test and scenarios to make sure they would be able to handle the situation appropriately.

I'm not against it.

I just know that there are dumbass teachers out there, and you pair that with dumbass kids, and shite will go wrong. A teacher will end up shooting a kid, and the firestorm of was it justified or not will be wild.

As a teacher, I don’t think it’s a good idea at all. There are about two people on our entire faculty that I would trust to carry at school. You can give most of these women as much training as you want, and most of them are still either going to make a really bad decision with the gun or have it taken away from them by a student in a critical situation.
