Costco makes zero dollars on anything they sell.. ZERO.. which is why they are able to offer such low prices, they literally sell items for the wholesale prices they pay … the only money Costco makes is on selling memberships .
Source: I worked for a company that sold many products in Costco.. and unless theyve changed their business model in the last 4 or 5 yrs, what i said above is 100% accurate .

not true, memberships account for about half their profit. it is by far their most profitable "item" but not all of their profit.

It might have changed because I think their are some items they make $0 profit on, but others they do make a profit, but they are able to sell at a cheaper price because they buy directly from the manufacture and store also serves as the warehouse so there is no need for to have anyone to go check in the back to see if they have anymore, etc.

This is so stupid. You realize it's a public company, and you can look at their financial statements, right? Why don't you take 10-20 mins to do so, so that you can realize how dumb your statement was?

A distant relative grows chickens under contract for Costco. Costco loses just over $1 per rotisserie chicken they sell. But they do it to bring customers into the store, where they do make a decent profit on some other items. Overall their profit margin is lower than most stores. But it is not ZERO.
