Anyone know if there is a bill or not to do away with these?

House Bill 344 is requesting the removal of required motor vehicle inspection stickers.
The 2024 Louisiana Legislative session will begin on March 11, and representatives across the state will propose new laws or changes to current ones.

Under the proposed law, Commercial vehicles and student transportation vehicles must have inspection stickers. Also, vehicles registered in parishes governed by the U.S. Clean Air Act will be required under federal law to obtain an emission inspection.
According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, seven counties in Louisiana are in nonattainment or maintenance status for the year according to pollutants criteria.
I’m guessing vehicles in EBR would not be exempt

The last time that bill was presented a legislator argued it was a bad idea because local shops rely on the revenue.
The most ridiculous argument ever. If a business needs $20 inspection stickers to survive, they don’t need to be in business. AND citizens should not be required to pay for inspections purely to keep those businesses afloat.

Given most of our air pollutions comes from Texas, it’s asinine to force EBR to get yearly stickers. We don’t have persistent ozone issues either. How NOLA gets two year stickers and EBR is stuck with annual baffles me.

For it to be called a sticker it has to actually stick to the glass.

As with most things in the state of Louisiana, this probably wont happen

The vendor is connected some way.

Vehicle inspections are worthless.
Louisiana needs to leave Mayberry behind and do what the majority of states have already done.

Beginning in 2025, Texas drivers will no longer need to get their vehicles inspected. On Aug. 5, Gov. Greg Abbott signed House Bill 3297 into law, which eliminates regular mandatory vehicle safety inspections for noncommercial vehicles.

Yeah cause it's the cars in EBR that are causing all the extra air pollution.

With the state that our roads are in, this should not be a requirement.

It's even funnier they stated that because I believe the shop only gets like 20% of that for issuing it.

Counting down the days till I can throw some 5% on all the way around and roll my blunt in traffic in peace.

There's places around here and that's all they do. They are open only for inspections.
