Tired of fighting gummed up carbs and 50/50 cranking.
Who has one and which one do you recommend?

I went greenworks 60 v and will never use gas again.
I don’t think it really matters what brand.
Find a deal on slickdeals.com and happy hunting.
Stick with that same platform for your blower.
All good.

THE most important detail is how much a replacement battery will cost, expect it to only last a year with regular use.
its like computer printers where the replacement ink costs more than a new printer does.
with cordless tools the battery can be reasonable, or it can cost 3/4 the price of buying a new weed eater.
also, a recent trend is selling tools (tool only) without the battery and charger, so make sure the one you buy includes the battery and charger
as mentioned above, brand isnt all that important, but its easier and cheaper to get all your cordless tools using the same batteries

My wife (no pics) loves her Black + Decker 40V Max Leaf Blower and String trimmer. They are small and lighter than most other battery powered garden tools. We've had these for well over 5 years and they are still going strong. Have had to replace some battery packs over the years. That being said, I like my EGO battery powered tools. I have the combo string trimmer and edger attachment unit. All you do is change the lower half of the tool, simple and fast, but heavy. I also have the big leaf blower. That thing is a monster! Love it! We also have the battery powered mower, and it cuts as well as the gas powered self propelled. The wife loves the mower because it is much lighter and easier to handle than the gas mower. Plus, you don't have to pull start it.

Several years ago, I went all Makita 36v. I've done a couple follow-up reviews. Super satisfied!
Makia powerhead:
line trimmer
hedge trimmer
edger
pole chainsaw
Also have:
blower
small chainsaw 16"
and small mower <-- eliminated 1/3 of my grass for pavers & a side driveway.
Winning!
Purchased a few item with 4, with 5amp hr batteries/deal. Never looking back.
I owned a landscape co for 17 years the line trimmer "powerhead" is no joke!
Hope this is helpful

I have the Lowes Kobalt 40v. It's been fine, works well. Once you get used to how to wind the spool for the refill of the line, it's fairly easy. I weeed eat around 1.5 acres of fencing and it will typically last for me to complete in one charge.

Get a Stihl. Had one for 10 years and I have never had an issue cranking it.

Use trufuel, problem solved

I’ve never used anything but trufuel. Still 50/50 cranking.

I’ve got a Stihl too, was having trouble cranking. Bought a $16 carb off Amazon and now it cranks in 3 pulls or so.

Run ethanol free gas. Thank me later
I leave gas in mine year round and use mostly during summer. Cranks on second pull.

I went with a stihl. I’ve had it for 8 years now. I purchased the ap300 batteries. The thing is a beast.

I stumbled on a gold mine by accident with electric weedeater. I got a little one. A ryobi. And because it weighs so little, and is so dirt simple to use, the old lady likes it and will get out there and do the weedeating.
So remember that.

same here and I cautiously dipped my toe into electric yard tools with a Kobalt (Lowes) 40v weed trimmer a couple years ago
Could not be happier, it's every bit as powerful as my old gas Ryobi was but a LOT easier to live with. In fact, I like it so much I"m planning to replace my 20 yrs old gas mower with an electric one this spring.
Buddy of mine has gone all electric and I've borrowed his battery powered chainsaw - it does a decent job for yard trimming but if I bought one I'd want extra batteries or better yet commonality of batteries across all tools.

Use Seafoam. I have a few Stihl 2-strokes that get used very infrequently and Seafoam is magic. I have gas in the blower from last summer and it cranked right up last weekend after sitting for 4-5 months.
But if you want a DC trimmer I got my wife the DeWalt just because that's what my tools are. She has the female gene that makes 2-strokes some unfathomable mystery regardless of how well they're maintained.

I was always against battery power yard tools due to them being underpowered and battery life. I bought a 60V weed eater for the camp and likes it so much I drag it back and forth from the house. It is a beast, highly recommend.
