I’ve always felt a little out of place in Louisiana because I’m not a hunter. It seems so many people in this state and a lot of people I know hunt and fish. Do you?
I don’t hunt or fish, though I have done both in the past (it was never a hobby of mine). I grew up in rural Acadiana and I have a close friend group of 6 guys from high school. None of us or hunters or fishermen.
I have nothing against people who like to hunt or fish, I’m just a city person (which is weird because I lived the majority of my life on farmland in rural Vermilion parish).

born and raised here and never hunted in my life. Not because I didnt want to. My dad didnt hunt and therefore I didn't. I do fish, though. Mostly self taught
Same. I don't even remember my dad ever shooting a gun.
And it's not like you can just ask people to tag along on a hunt. Nobody wants some newb with a shotgun running around their hunt. Kind of bums me out.

I love going to deer camp in the fall to drink and watch football regardless if I kill anything.
Pretty sure a large percentage of guys hunt just to have an excuse to get away from their family

I fish a little, hunt even less. Enjoy both but neither are a priority for me.

In this scenario, all of the wild game will be gone in just a few weeks. Totally gone except in possibly the remotest areas.
You better have a better plan.

Hunt, fish, and golf. Its all the same to me. I just want to be outdoors. I could do all three every day.

Sometimes I wonder if south Louisiana is even worth inhabiting if you don’t fish and/or hunt

Fish regularly. Not much of a hunter at all.

Fishing? Yes. Hunting… no. Within a month or two of a full collapse, there won’t be any game bigger than a squirrel left alive anywhere near areas of human habitation. Within six months, even the smallest game would likely become scarce.
Hunting would become relevant again in a generation or so, after the majority of the humans have died off.

Do both. Hunt from November to January, fish February to June. Play golf in between.

Deer, dove, and quail

I did hunt at-onetime in my early 20’s, fishing not so much. I guess I’m one of the few that grew up in Louisiana with outdoors not being a thing. My outdoor experience was playing in the creek and woods in our neighborhood.

Growing up in WV you either grab your shotgun or fishing pole, walk outside and you're a short walk to a good spot. It's a much more time consuming process in La so I don't do either nearly as much.

Duck hunt in Delacroix and I do fish but only occasionally during the spring and summer. Wish I could do it more. Maybe if I ever retire lol
