If you are as wealthy as you come across, you could move to Haiti and live a great, safe life, with great education etc, but that doesn't make Haiti an objectively good country when compared to others. If you can't understand that then I'm sorry

don't appreciate how truly beautiful the state is.
Nah, I’ve been to Louisiana numerous times to visit family, in both the northern and southern parts of the state. There isn’t anything scenic about seeing swampy marshlands lol

What about the objective measures? Like I said compare it to a 3rd world country, yes there are rich people and nice areas in all of them. But Louisiana is absolutely at the bottom when speaking of education, crime, corruption, poverty, incarceration, etc.
Education - what you pay in taxes in Tx you could just pay for private school in La and the education there is better
Crime - there’s plenty of crime in Tx and they have issues just like La
Poverty - there’s poverty everywhere
Incarceration- not sure how this affects your day to day unless you’re a criminal
All of your metrics to why La is so awful are also issues elsewhere. You aren’t mentioning the COL difference and the over population that Tx deals with.

1) I never said anything about being "wealthy"
2) I never said anything about Louisiana being objectively good

First of all, Texas isn't the only other state in the Union. And yes there is poverty and crime everywhere, but wayyyy more in Louisiana. These are just facts

All these people swearing Tx is perfect never mention the issues here and the difference in COL. they tax you to death in Tx. Crime rates aren’t non existent. Worst of all, everything and everyone is super generic. The homes are almost all lookalike cookie cutter. The people are all transplants mostly from CA, NY and the Midwest. They’re all weird and standoffish. Nothing like Louisiana folk.
Texas is a place where people get up, go to work, come back home, and repeat. I’ll be the first to admit that this state doesn’t offer many amenities aside from jobs. Our beaches are trash, the climate is awful, and we have no real scenery unless you consider West Texas “scenic”. People view TX as a place to build their career and then retire to Florida when they have enough money

Well could have fooled me by talking about not caring "how the masses live." And glad we agree that it is objectively the worst state in the Union by almost every metric

Things are way more similar than different in upper middle class enclaves.
This is what I was attempting to portray in my post earlier in the thread. I don't really think that my lifestyle here in Lafayette is much different than it would be in any city of a similar size around the country. The only real difference is distance to things like mountains or beaches.

I have nothing against Louisiana. I'm sure there's a lot to like about it.
I live in Oklahoma, which EVERYONE shits on (including Louisianans). And I actually really do enjoy living in South-Southeastern Oklahoma.
Now I don't think I would ever choose to live in Louisiana. I'm a white bread guy from rural Missouri and Louisiana is a little too diverse for me based on how I was raised and what I'm used to.

Winters are warm.
The food is incredible.
My friends and family live here.
People are incredibly friendly.
Great cultural events, especially in the spring.
Excellent music culture. Just an unreal amount of musical talent hanging around.
There’s a lot of flaws, but South Louisiana has some obvious advantages to living here otherwise no one would.

Louisiana really sucks if you are poor, but honestly, everywhere probably sucks if you are poor.
If you aren't poor, then your standard of living here is probably very similar to what it would be anywhere, outside of location specific amenities.

It makes it 5 percent better, and other states are wayyyy lower, as well as poverty rates and education etc. Louisiana and Mississippi are objectively the worst states to live in, that's all I'm saying. I'm not saying there aren't great things about it or that's it's not the best pace for you or anyone in specific to live.

If you aren't living in poverty how does the poverty rate affect your daily life?

That's just not true, even if poor it's better in other places, not even addressing the fact that you are factually less likely to be poor. But the government works way more efficiently in most other states, so that is good for an impoverished person. However if rich or middle class, Louisiana is still objectively worse, you're more likely to be a victim of a crime etc. There are states where you would literally have to try to go to an area where you feel unsafe, it's pretty easy in Louisiana
