I am old enough to remember being a kid in the 1980s and it was big news when Miami Vice era Don Johnson started dating Streisand.. to me that’s a similar concept to Danson banging a Whoopi Goldberg, just bored so trying something different, maybe they had an ‘intellectual connection’ or something, who knows .
