My favorite is the paper straws in plastic wrappers. You can't make this shite up.
Have you never heard of cellophane? Do a little research. I'll hold back on making a nasty comment since cellophane has only been around like 50 years.

Every little bit helps, or something like that.

Turtles like using straws but they don’t use forks or spoons.

I encountered those last week. I remove it and leave it on the table for someone else to pick up.

Ill bite, its not biodegradable if it has any coating on it or additives in it. like to not let water through.

A local BBQ place uses some of those utensils that are made out of biodegradable material (corn-based I believe). They’re better than those thin plastic sporks you get elsewhere.

Bamboo is great for disposable utensils and I actually use cane bagasse disposable plates at home. Biodegradable and using something that’s generally viewed as a waste byproduct.

Not the newer coatings. This is true of the older petroleum based coatings. Modern cellophane is pretty darn eco friendly all the way around.

For every paper straw that falls apart in your mouth, an Indian shits on a piece of plastic and throws it into a trash filled river.

It's not about the straw. I don't even like straws.
I don't use them.
It's about the stupidity of overreacting to one goddamn video of an unfortunate turtle.

No matter what we do about pollution, if you don't stop China, India, Africa, etc. from just wholesale dumping their crap into the rivers and oceans...it's all for naught.
And yet that fat bitch Greta points the finger at us all the time like we’re the problem.

We have a woke restaurant over here that used to have plastic straws, then went to paper ones then back to plastic after 2-3 months. Curious to know why. Wonder if they were losing business.

If plastic is generally bad
Wouldn’t less of it be good?

This is how smart Austin TX is......they have banned plastic bags in all stores, You have to bring your own or buy a reusable one at the store. Let remember all the foods sold in plastic, milk, ketchup, mustard, salad dressing, sodas ect, ect, etc. But all means let's ban the dreaded plastic bag. Haaaa

It’s because straws are considered more dangerous to sea life and they are more easily replaced with paper straws.
The overall idea is to reduce the usage of plastic.

No plastic straws but change given back in single use plastic bags. No plastic straws, drinks served in plastic cups with plastic lids. Plastic grocery bags are bad… unless we charge you a dime per, then it’s all good. Plastic wrap is bad, unless we need to shrink wrap something. Then plastic is good.

You don't bring your plastic utensils home and wash them like my wife? What's wrong with you

I never understood this. Don't turtles need to drink also?
It breaks my heart to think of a thirsty turtle, sitting in a diner booth on a Friday night with a delicious chocolate milk shake in front of him, but with no straw to suck down the tasty concoction. I mean, they don't have hands, so don't they need the straws, also?
