Listening to Phil Collins while riding in my parents’ Chevy Monza. Great time to be alive

Worked in NOLA, got married, lived in a “modern” apartment complex, went to the Sugar Bowl (on 2 Jan.), celebrated Reagan’s reelection, went to the World’s Fair, went to JazzFest, saw Moo State beat LSU @ Starkvegas, went out every weekend, fricked like rabbits on speed.

In 1st grade at Jackson Academy
Lived in Jackson
Watched Dukes of Hazzard, Dallas and Falcon Crest on Friday nights
Watched Smurfs, Spiderman, A-Team, and Airwolf on Saturdays
My mom had a 1970-something VW Beetle with no a/c but two heaters and a Pontiac station wagon
My dad had a blue Caprice Classic with white wall tires
Attended the World's Fair in New Orleans with my parents and paternal grandparents
Played little league baseball
Everyone was listening to Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen and Duran Duran

Junior year of high school.I remember it as the most fun of my high school years. Senior year sucked. My English class read 1984 in 1984.Always thought that was cool.Rocked Prince Purple Reign, Springsteen Born in the USA, and U2 Unforgettable Fire all year.It was the best summer of my life.

Listening to the last record that Van Halen made with David Lee Roth.
The 80's were glorious. We had video games, although they were pretty rudimentary by today's standards. On Saturdays we'd get as many of us together as possible and ride our bikes to the elementary school around the corner to play football.
No cell phones. No internet. No 300 channel cable packages. Just friends that you enjoyed being with.

I was at Auburn as well. Poor as a poor church mouse. My father decided that the best way to make our way was to pay for it. I kind of get his reasoning now, but I will tell you I did not do that with my children. I was completely cut off financially. It sucked, but I was also tremendously motivated to succeed. It worked, but I didn’t want my children to have go through the crap I did. All of my kids are doing great, without all of the suffering.

I was 6, so I don’t remember that year specifically. Probably eating Fruity Pebbles and watching awesome Saturday morning cartoons. I could also be found running the streets in Dukes of Hazard Big Wheel. I do remember having an Atari 2600, but we mostly played outside.

1984
I was 12 and it was awesome
Went to the World’s Fair twice that summer
Baseball, football, and basketball at the playground
Lots of good movies at the theater- we mostly went to the theater at Lakeside Mall and the other theater across Veterans
Watched a lot of football and baseball on tv- we had got cable a year or two before
Rode the Mongoose in the neighborhood all the time. Lots of houses getting built and we made dirt bike tracks in empty lots
Spent a lot of quarters at the Fun Arcade and the Putt-Putt arcade on Vets
And at home, Atari all the time- Asteroids, Defender, Missile Command, and Space Invaders especially
I miss these simple good times. My parents were alive, no job, no bills, no headaches.

1984 I was living with my parents.
Life was pretty good, as my only responsibility in life was to not shite my pants.
Can’t say for sure, but I think I did a good job of it.
