Excited for new BB arena, …

I think it’s safe to say this is happening at some point.
However, I’m genuinely curious. I go to the PMAC and I don’t ever think when walking out that I’ve just been inside a complete and utter disaster of a building.
It’s not “modern” I guess, but it’s just a place to watch sports with bad concessions and shitty bathrooms. But the latter is not specific to the PMAC
. LSU is best in the country at not caring about the fan.
My point is I’m excited for what’s coming, but it really feels like the “PMAC is a dump” narrative is just an example of group think.

When just about every coach who uses the building says it is a dump, that is more than just "group think."
The PMAC just has a sorta depressing vibe to it. Building something new that is more accessible with more natural light coming in will drastically change the feel of going to events.

Maybe OP should have led with a question rather than make a provocative statement.
What are some new features we should expect in a new arena to improve the fan experience and team experience?
I’m sure media improvements could also be added, but I doubt that moves the needle much for revenue…unless the goal is to influence the psychology of sports writers.

The bathrooms were made for a small stature population of people. Any arena should be made for speed in bathrooms and concessions. It should not take you 20 mins to get a coke and take a leak at full capacity

PMAC is a dump
For those of us who watched Pistol Pete do his magic act in the old Parker Cow Palace, the PMAC looked like a heavenly abode-- for the first 10 years, at least. It has outlived its allure, however, and needs an upgrade

The Cow Palace. Totally natural-- also pigeons flapping in and vacating their cloacae

I’m definitely in favor of a new arena, or at least a renovated one, but the PMAC design has nothing to do with concession speed.

Exactly what a broke town needs. A new tax for a new arena that will be half full and triple concession prices.
The dumb get dumber in that shithole. When did this world think spending necessarily will be good?

Generally the pmac is fine
The layout and organization is just kinda weird for basketball especially the student section

90% of the men’s games are at night and natural light is not going to enhance the experience.

It's not a dump and there's not really a bad view in the arena. It is outdated though and there are some inconsistencies in the space between the rows. If LSU had been as good as programs like Kansas, Duke, Arizona, Purdue, over the last 30-40 years the fans would considered it a "historic" venue (Tiger Stadium is 100 years old). But they haven't. So it's just "outdated".
With Tad Pad gone, Texas with a new arena, and Alabama scheduled to build a new arena, it was probably time for LSU to consider a new arena as well. But the PMAC isn't, nor has ever been what's holding LSU back. Inconsistent coaching hires is the reason for that.

Holy shite

I must’ve forgot the likes of Duke, North Carolina, and Kansas have an exorbitant amount of sun rays shining through their arenas

You dipshit. Most of the events are at night.

From a fan perspective it probably still is a little groupthink. It is serviceable but not really a dump, IMO.
Compared to the LSUAC (before it was renamed to the PMAC) back in 1980-1981 when I was a student, seating seems more comfortable now but that may be my shoddy memory.
Concessions are slow but that won't change with a new venue alone.
Bathrooms are tons better than Tiger Stadium but still seem antiquated.
A new facility is warranted and the areas the public does not see are probably the biggest reason based on what coaches say. But I still think calling it a dump is at least a little bit of hyperbole.

This. Put the student section right on the court like it used to be. Then the environment will get better.
