Today, the Senate passed Senate Bill 1, NRA backed constitutional carry legislation, on a 28-10 vote. The bill will next be considered in the House.

How can you concealed carry a pistol at 18 but can’t purchase one until your 21… doesn’t make any sense.

You might want to wait until the House passes it and the Governor signs it.

Constitutional carry should be federally legal in all 50 states. I don’t care what any suburban white women who votes blue has to say.

Notice how the people who are the most anti-gun have never even touched a gun in their life and know absolutely nothing about them?

The problem with constitutional carry is there's no way of knowing how proficient the gun owner may be. There's two general ends of the spectrum.

First time owning a gun? Take lessons from a firearms expert, learn how it operates, and learn that pulling a gun can be in most cases a last resort. Think before you engage.

Former military with a combat infantry MOS and combat experience? I trust them not to accidentally blow my head off during a chaotic event.

With CCP's we had a way to ensure the holder had basic proficiency. Constitutional carry eliminates that.

You need a license to drive a car and demonstrate proficiency. It should be the same for a dangerous weapon capable of ending life, deliberately or accidentally. Like a car.

Let the downvotes rain in.

I’m still trying to decide if this is a good idea. Part of me says frick yeah. Another part of me knows way too many people who shouldn’t carry a gun, but will now. Here’s to dangerous freedom!

I am against this. If some kid is carrying with intent to shoot some other kid I like the police being able to arrest him for no other reason than that he has a concealed weapon.

Here's why I am not for that.

There are plenty of young guys out there, old enough to buy beer, sign up for the military, etc., but have seen too many shoot'em up movies or played too many Call of Duty games.

An intense CC course will make a hot head weigh the consequences of whipping out his piece or worse, actually shoot someone out of emotion. These NRA instructors go through all the laws, penalties, and scenarios pf disregarding common sense rules that can put you in the pokey.

Do I want some 22 year old ding-dong deciding he wants to scare me by displaying?...No! Even though it is illegal to do so, he doesn't know and could likely get himself some jail time or worse, meet up with another loco who puts in in the graveyard.

While I’m all for constitutional carry, I could see where there might be a case to complete a training class first. And then just link the training to La Wallet like hunter’s safety.

At least it could teach the legality of when to shoot someone and when not to.

Hard to understand why everyone hadn’t already been carrying daily. frick the government…we don’t need their permission to protect ourselves and our families. Screw legal repercussions…deal with that crap after you protect yourself or your loved ones and the bad guy is dead. I hope this bill passes, if for no other reason it will allow more people to feel comfortable carrying. If every swinging dick in the state was armed, violent crime statistics would plummet overnight. The bad guys should always have to assume their targets are armed also. To be effective, you will need to always carry. You’ll also need to learn how to effectively use your weapon.

Problem is u can’t carry across state lines even if they constitutional carry and I can’t carry until Louisiana even though Bama also has constitutional carry. Fix that too please.

The problem is you don’t get cards to prove it etc

The problem is going to be the money, I think I rember it being stated that LA State Police take in $4 million/year on concealed carry permits, add to that the push to get rid of vehicle inspection stickers (brake tags for the New Orleans folk) which would take another chunk out of state police budget. I am for constitutional carry and the elimination of inspection stickers, but do not feel that either will pass strictly because of the lost dollars….politicians don’t vote to decrease funding
