I really don't understand what Alabama is trying to do here. IVF has helped millions of couples have children and now Alabama wants to classify embryo's as children. Meaning frozen embryo's that are not used and destroyed could cause parents and medical facilities to me charged with man slaughter. What am I missing here or did Alabama just really go off rails here.

All comes down to if you believe life begins at conception. Can’t say it does in a “natural ” situation but doesn’t here

So does this mean unused embryos will have to be stored for eternity or will the State seize them and implant them in someone else? If a lab tech drops an embryo container can they be charged with negligent homicide? Would an inheritance now have to be split between all children and however many embryos the parents still had frozen?
This ruling essentially made the state responsible for an untold number of frozen embryos in the future.

Next, Alabama will ban hospitals bc they are interfering with God's plan

Fewer Alabamans is the only bright side to this. It’s a shame the evangelicals want to prevent people from having kids.

Bzzzt.
You tried.
Sell your baby killing justifications somewhere else.

It is bad public policy, plain and simple.

This is sick. Alabama has got to be the most backward state in history.

Unfortunately it seems more and more people have to use IVF and other methods these days.
Everyone I know it seems had trouble conceiving the natural way. And a lot who were successful with pregnancy the natural way had miscarriages. I dunno why that is, but seems more common these days. Alabama law is dumb

Was the original thread going so poorly for people making your argument that you felt compelled to start a new thread in an effort to salvage your nonsensical opinions on this matter?

This is a classic case of what happens when you have identity politicians instead of trained lawyers making laws.
Reminds me of the vote to “make the right to bear arms a fundamental right” cir. 2012. Only after it passed did the right wingers realize that made it harder to deprive convicted felons of the right to buy firearms after they get out of prison.

This is a horrible decision that could have a tragic consequences for couples trying to have a family.

Despite multiple cautionaries, including those on this site, human-at-fertilization is THE POSITION, period! Any position comes with consequences. An IVF accident is one of the consequences.

This is just accelerating idiocracy becoming real life. Poors can’t abort and the rich educated can’t get test tube babies anymore. Just more dummies coming soon to a city near you. Gonna be great. I’m glad I’ll be dead.

Hell, what's to stop the state from charging a woman who has miscarried with negligent homicide?

It’s about time for me to move out of Alabama I think.

It’s an interesting ruling. Now if you are in a car accident or bump a pregnant lady that has a miscarriage you can be tried for manslaughter. If you can show product causes damage to fetus it’s a criminal and punitive damage case.
They looked at doing this in Mississippi but the chamber killed it because it scared them too much as it opens a whole can of worms.

Does this mean that any frozen embryos kept in Alabama can be claimed as dependents during tax time?

This is ridiculous
Throwing away IVF embryos isn’t murder. IVF “conceived” lifeforms aren’t real people.
