Thread 1: We need a stretch big next to Zion!

Thread 2: We need Daniel Gafford!

And we land on, "The liberal conspiracy is not allowing Daniel Gafford to take and make 3s."

Where are you finding 20 minutes without Zion on the court?

Okay the 15 minutes without him and 5 with him.

Happy?

If Larry fricking Nance can fit. So can gafford.

Also, Gafford would be a horrible fit with Zion. He is the polar opposite of the spacing big that everyone is clamoring form
He would provide vertical spacing.

Agreed. Gafford is a better player than Nance. Against a shitty portland team- Nance was nonexistent.

It's because Cuban is a liberal that Soros forced Gafford to go to Dallas! Undoubtedly, they simply activated the vaccine nanoparticles in Gafford's blood.

No you haven’t. You are quickly responding to every post saying “move on move on move on” over and over as if that’s some how the way a message board works lol

I like Larry, but he's averaged under 5 points and 5 boards a game for us his last 10 games and he hasn't hit 19 and 9 all season. Gafford did it in his first game for the Mavs. Plus he blocks shots. Larry's blocks per game this year? 0.3. CJ has a higher average.

The Mavs got Gafford, who many folks around here liked, for Richaun Holmes and the rights OKC's first round pick this year. You're saying we couldn't beat that for a rim-protecting big? Hell, Griff spent a mid-first rounder and 4 second round picks just on Devonte Graham. Maybe if you'd just held on to DG you could have traded him and a pick for someone useful, instead of giving away all our second rounders just to get rid of him...

So who were you going to trade for salary matching?

Nance?
JV?
Naji and Dyson?

It's very unlikely that the Pels will land the perfect center that is a good 3 point shooter and a good rim protector. There are just too few of those guys out there. But, the Pels do need someone who is one of those two things. Either get someone who can stretch out defenses so that Zion can attack the rim, or get someone who is an elite rim protector so cover up some of the defensive deficiencies on the team.

We have erred on the side of continuity. And we have tried to be incremental in the growth we make. I don’t know if you ever get to the point where you go all in.

I think recognizing what a team needs at a given time, we have been pretty mindful of finding that right opportunity

How much damn time do you need, a decade?!

The issue many fans have is that you need to try for this to happen.

Going from AD/ Cousins-> Derick Favors-> Steven Adams-> Val is rough as it is.

Now consider that we didn't attempt to develope or trade for ANY potential long term center fits. That's absolutely horrendous.

How do you go from Cousins/ AD, digress that much, and not make a decision to bring in new centers every year?

It adds insult to injury that our (3) worst matchups seem to be

Timberwolves (3) centers deep
Jazz (3) centers deep
Lakers AD (who wouldn't play C)

We got destroyed at SF/ C for most of our history. We've fixed SF, can we get a fricking center now?

They tried with Jaxson, but he just never developed. They also brought in Nance. But yeah, it's definitely something that needs to be addressed this offseason.

Luka has some weapons now. We really could use the frontcourt depth and rim protection that Gafford brings. Instead, a conference rival got him and PJ Washington for nothing while we stayed pat.

Is Gafford better than healthy Nance?

Is PJ better than Trey?

They made those moves b/c they don’t have the depth we have.

Those are not excuses. Nance was what 28 y/o coming off injury? That does nothing for us as far as long term stability or moving the needle. Jaxon was on our roster for how long? After he failed at center we started playing him at PF. We didn't even try to continue searching after that. Fans were pissed.

You can't say they "tried" when they failed for 4-5 years without even attempting to come up with a backup plan. Again we never paired a rookie with Favors/ Adams/ Val. It was old center+ old center
