How many NBA teams fail for years at center and don't have a revolving door at the position?

Pretty sure it's just us

Is having a good center important? Yes.

Is having switchable bigs and wings to guard the 3pt line more important? Yes.

Which one do you think the Pels prioritize? JV isn't a slouch. Nance is a very good backup 5 when he's healthy.

Roster is a contender. Zion just didn't show up in shape. Is what it is.

JV is going into his third year as the starting center and honestly having a career year with his play on both ends. Thats not a revolving door. If you personally don’t like JV, I get that. But the pelicans are not FAILING at center.

We're on year 3 or 4 of a solid, productive starting center

Gafford played 7 minutes in a loss tonight.

PJ Washington is averaging 8 and 6 in 30 minutes shooting 37/19/50 as a Mav.

At what cost?

Keep in mind Gafford makes about 20% more than Larry next year and Gafford would put them about 10% closer to the luxury.

Player for player? Sure. But that wouldn't have been the deal.

You could just throw in EJ and that would match Gafford money exactly for next year. EJ is dead weight.

I’d easily throw in our first this year to get that done. We don’t need to add a rookie picked in the 20s to this roster if we’re trying to contend.

Gafford is worth the 13m he’s making next year. Larry is barely playable now, he’ll be even worse next year

Again, Gafford is a foul machine who may be largely unplayable come playoff time. That's not even getting into the fact that he's going to clog the lane worse than anyone on our roster not named Zion.

Agreed, but his game makes him matchup-dependent

WTF does this have to with our C?

Agree, but how much better would he have made us? Willie doesn't know what to do with rotations as is

I think the better question is how many teams have the same starting center for the past 3 years? We don't have a revolving door at C

I just assumed initially the "pretty sure it's just us" was sarcasm; because quite clearly we don't have a revolving door at the position. But then I looked at who wrote that and figured it's likely not sarcasm.

If Zion is engaged and in shape and trying on defense, he's your backup center playing the 5 when Val sits.

Not lately, he's been really bad.

Over the last 11 games, at 20mpg, he's averaging 3.6ppg and 5.3 rebounds.

A healthy Nance doesn't really exist anymore.
