An amazing fall from Grace…. He was special to watch running in the football field. Then had an easy life of acting and doing football. And the the real Simpson came out…. Oh well enjoy hell.

I think if the cancer is still within the prostate the prostate is removed surgically or treated with radiation. Or that's how I remember it.
No! They can remove the prostate. That removes one of the valves that prevents a leaky ureter, requiring adiaper.
They can use a series of radiation terapy for several weeks to destroy the Prostate.
Or there is "Brachy Therapy". The use a needle to inject radioactive seeds into the prostate. The radiation kills the prostate, maintaining both valves that prevent a leaky ureter. They insert the needle/syringe between the anus and scrotum to inject the seeds into the prostate, as they watch the screen of a sonogram.
I had Brachy Therapy about seven years ago, successful. No leakage!

Yeah, I had Brachytheray. About 6 dozen inserted through my taint. I was happy for the Propofol.
Gave me a few weeks to recover and then started external beam radiation treatment.
Also had a couple of hormone injections. If the cancer comes back, they keep those shots.

Do not stop the hormone treatment even if your PSA levels are normal. My dad did not like the hormone shots and the doctor thought it was safe to stop. He died a year later.

Sorry to hear about your father. If you're talking about the shots that shut down testosterone production, that can be devastating as well. VA looked at patients given that treatment and many of them had depression, obesity, diabetes, heart disease etc, that developed within months.

A lot of people on this board will get prostate cancer. Just the reality of getting old.
Fortunately, it’s treatable.
It is treatable, but it can also come back with a vengeance.

He refused treatment since he was in his 90s and Scruffy’s grandmother had passed away earlier that year.

Thanks for the warning. Hope your father was an outlier.
Last treatment was in Spring, '21. Various negative side effects from the hormones. (From the radiation, too. But those are manageable.) PSA has been non-detectable during blood tests every six months since then.
I guess I need to talk w/ my Urologist.

Whether you know it now or not, many of you will have cancer by the time you reach that age. Cancer is primarily a disease of the elderly.
