re: People who take handicap spots without visible handicap
Posted by lsufaninca on 12/17/24 at 11:08 am to fareplay
I notice this a lot out here in California. Its seems like the usual "suspects" that have the placards and they are driving a really expensive car. I guess they just know how to work the system.
I live in a nice subdivision and there was a house down the street that was section 8 and there were always two cars in the driveway. Both cars were $100K each and both had handicap stickers. Once a month they would have a garage sale and sell all these designer clothes. It really irritates me how these people work the system.

Been sober for 16yrs...Go to your doctor and get a prescription for Naltrexone. It is 99% effective treating alcoholism. The medication slowly changes your desire to drinking. It takes about a year but you do not have to necessarily stop. I went from drinking everyday to once a week to once a month and so on. eventually I had no desire to drink. Best thing I have ever done. Good luck and reach out if you have questions.
re: Finding job after getting fired. How screwed am I?

I have been an executive recruiter for the last twenty years. I tell candidates in this situation to keep it short and simple. It is almost impossible to verify your dismissal. Most companies will not release this type of information. Stick to the positives. You were there for two years. You performed all your tasks. I would be careful saying things like "personality conflict" or "my boss had it out for me." I would just say I was ready for a change and looking to advance and I felt this was the perfect time for me. Again..Do not dwell on this and move on.
What ever you decide to say, rehearse several times in front of the mirror. Have it down. Also have a subject change question prepared to move on from that incident. The key is to move forward with the interview. Do not allow them to ask additional questions. Do not get emotional. Take control of the conversation. If it is no big deal to you then it will not be to them. This is still a good job market and you have professional qualifications. Focus on this.

Do not stop the hormone treatment even if your PSA levels are normal. My dad did not like the hormone shots and the doctor thought it was safe to stop. He died a year later.

I have lived in Berkeley since 1997 and there is no In-N-out. Oh..and you mis-spelled Berkeley. You might hate us but at least get you f###n story right.
re: Trigger Finger Diagnosis
Posted by lsufaninca on 1/16/24 at 8:44 pm to Harlan County USA
The Name of the procedure is Percutaneous Trigger release. It was performed on my wife by a Dr. Cardon in Berkeley, CA which I know is a long way for you. Hopefully you can find someone local that can do the procedure. He did it in office and it took about 30 minutes.
If for some reason you cannot find someone local he only charges $500 if insurance does not cover. Might be worth the trip out! I would definitely check this out before considering surgery! Good luck!

My Wife has had three surgeries due to trigger finger. The first two she was sedated and they went in and corrected the issue. It was a long slow recovery which probably took six months.
On the third surgery she had heard about a different procedure where they go in a scrape the tendon with a needle to release it. This took thirty minutes at the Dr. office and she was able to use the finger same day. No stiches and recovery time was two weeks.
If you want more info let me know and I will ask her more about the procedure. Definitely need to check out before deciding on surgery

I lived by that mall about twenty years ago and glad I got the f.. out. Emeryville is way too close to Oakland. I did go to the movies there a while back and it is a really nice outdoor mall. It's a shame that the local "culture" has to ruin it for the rest of us.

Honda’s are notorious for failing vehicle stability modulators. It causes the dash to light up (ABS, Power Steering, etc.) but doesn’t effect vehicle performance. May want to check it. It’s about a $1,200 repair after a long wait to receive the part.
With my luck it is probably this. My mechanic hinted at it. If it does not affect performance, I will probably live with it. I will also check the ABS sensors and hopefully it is one of them.

Sounds like a possible wheel speed sensor. Did your cruise control also stop working at the same time?

Did you turn it off for 30 seconds and power back on?
I did and it was still on. Once the car cools down for about five minutes it goes off and then start after about 10 minutes of driving.
Brake Issue 2014 Honda Pilot
Posted by lsufaninca on 6/20/23 at 2:27 pm
I was hoping for a little OT help. I have a 2014 Honda Pilot 87K miles. Recently the ABS light, Stability Traction control light, and brake light turn on after about twenty minutes of driving. I took it by my mechanic, and he thought it might be a switch which he said would be very expensive to replace and I would need to go to Honda. Has anyone had anything similar to this? The brakes do seem to be working okay at this time.

We went to New Orleans in October. The only thing worthwhile, and it should be on everyone’s bucket list, is th National WW2 Museum. Stay at Higgins Hotel, right across street from the museum. Great restaurants within walking distance.
Thanks..Will check out..

Eat good and stay at a nice hotel. Venture out during the day and stay close to your hotel at night. It’s a little sketchy at times, but can be a great time. Wouldn’t recommend getting belligerent and walking around at 3 am alone, trying to find your way back to your hotel
I’ve done this before and survived fortunately - but won’t do it anymore
Nah...I'm getting too old and I stopped drinking 13yrs ago and definitely not going back.

Already bad advice. LOL
And OP, August is probably the worst time to visit Nola. I would consider another month if at all possible when it’s a little cooler and more outdoor stuff is happening
I know it will be hot as F..K but we are doing a cross country drive and need to be in Florida around the 16th. I am now thinking a hotel with a nice pool.

Going to New Orleans this summer (Please Advise)
Posted by lsufaninca on 4/20/23 at 6:06 pm
Greetings...Will be headed to New Orleans with my family in August. I am looking at a couple of VRBO options. The first is in the Garden District and 2nd is in Broadmoor? I will have a car. Which one would be safer and closer to activities?
Its been 30yrs since I have been to N.O. I Know its dangerous and gross from reading OT but would like to know some good food and tourist places to go. As I mentioned, I do have a car but would probably like to walk as much as possible. We do not party so not planning on being out late. Thanks for your help!
