I know it’s been asked before, but I didn’t pay attention.

I’m binging a first time watch of Only Murders in the Building and here comes Rudd for S3.

He’s very good in light comedies.
He tends to be very likeable.

He made me laugh in Only Murders.
Season 3 has some very cool moments.

Likable guy, lighthearted humor, doesn't do insufferable stuff off screen... He seems to have cornered the market in his niche.

Clueless is the answer. Much of the cast of that movie has gone on to have a way more significant careers than you'd expect to come out of one movie full of relatively unknown actors.

A few years ago, someone tried to have a pretentious conversation with him about “his craft”. Rudd laughed and said something about knowing how he hit the career jackpot and he appreciates his good fortune.

Plus the man does not age.

Paul Rudd is actually funny in an innate and non-cringe manner.

What needs to be explained is why so many men worship Ryan Reynolds and think he's funny/entertaining.

He still looks exactly the same now as he did 25 years ago as Phoebe’s boyfriend on Friends

He's basically Tom Hanks in the 80s before he became a "serious" actor. He's a goofy, likable, inoffensively handsome guy who can be fit into any light hearted rom com or comedy.

He's the male version of the girl next door... that's funny.

I think he was great as a supporting actor to Seth Rogan in Knocked Up. His character kind of wrapped up his career nicely.

But he was also hilarious in Our Idiot Brother.

Always pleased to see his name on a cast list.

His Role Models role is as close to Bill Murray as we may get today. He was great in Ghostbusters as well.

This is a good explanation; explains his appeal, but also pretty balanced:

I know the movie got panned, but I thought he was great, as Moe Berg, in the biopic 'The Catcher Was a Spy (2018)'.
