McConnell explicitly recommended a NO vote on cloture on the motion to proceed, according to several attendees.

McConnell said the problem isn’t what Lankford negotiated, it’s that the political mood in the country has changed.

NEWS — McConnell recommended to GOP senators behind closed doors that they BLOCK the border bill on Wednesday, per multiple sources, bc it’s clear that most Republicans are preparing to vote no — either because they oppose the bill or want more time. w/@bresreports@JakeSherman

WASHINGTON (AP) — Facing a torrent of criticism from conservatives, Senate Republicans on Monday resisted advancing on a bipartisan proposal intended to clamp down on illegal border crossings, signaling a likely defeat in Congress that would leave leaders with no clear path to approve wartime aid for Ukraine.

In a dramatic turnaround, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell recommended to GOP senators in a closed-door meeting that they vote against the first procedural vote Wednesday, according to two people familiar with the meeting who were not authorized to talk publicly about it and spoke anonymously.

Hopefully the rest of the pathetic swamp GOP see the swamp has no loyalty to you they will hang you out to dry after praising you to save their own arse.

So desperate to get that Ukraine aid they gave Dems their dream border deal and try to sell it as the best deal they could get.

The turtle is in a panic because of the border convoy and majority of country doesn’t supply 1 cent for Ukraine.

Let this be a lesson to any Republican stupid enough to go out on a limb to do McConnnell’s dirty work: he will leave you out to dry, then cut off the limb you’re standing on to save his own behind.

Make no mistake: McConnell picked Lankford for this kamikaze mission because 1) Lankford isn’t up for re-election until 2028, and 2) Lankford didn’t have the experience or wits to accomplish anything substantive against Schumer and Biden, whose goals on immigration and Ukraine perfectly align with McConnell’s.

It was vintage Mitch McConnell: work feverishly behind the scenes on behalf of his donors and the Uniparty to fleece taxpayers, pick an unsuspecting dupe to bear the public burden of carrying McConnell’s slop bucket, then throw the poor dupe right under the bus when everything goes sideways.

I just saw Nikki on TV hawking the bill and bashing Trump for trying to kill it. I wonder if she's rechecking the current wind.

That's funny because the mood only changed once people were able to confirm the shite deal Lankford negotiated.

No, the problem is precisely the shite deal that Lankford negotiated. And it's a problem that McConnell won't just say that. I mean hell, just be honest with us the one time, Mitch. Is that too much to ask?

Heck, of course it is... he's a politician after all.
