Really? I guess I don't know any successful people then. I'm not talking about things like corporate layoffs (you may be including that). I'm talking about actually being fired.

I asked the boss about crane certification for the installers and he said that they just take their chances and will pay the fine if caught. Cheaper that way. I was like, WTF.
I think we just stumbled on a variable in the aforementioned equation.

You don't have to be so sensitive, Sally. You're the one who was giving us lessons for success. I just didn't think that being fired was a criterion. Your mileage obviously varies.

I’ve dealt with bouts of sciatica since I was 27. It is definitely not a picnic and there is no way to explain it to people who haven’t had it. I find only physical activity staves it off.

True. But not impossible. I came to work for the company I work for today 30 years ago after I got out of the Army. Started as a warehouse worker, worked my way up the ladder and now I’m a corporate level product manger. Was it easy? Hell no. Was it always fun? Hell no again. But was it worth it? Absolutely.

Always the doucher. Good luck with that.

Last night I slipped when I got out of the shower and busted my arse. This morning I’m walking better than. Have in a month. Working outside to try to burn the rest of the pain off.

My response to you was commensurate to your initial response to me. In lay person's terms, "don't dish it out if you can't take it", or "don't start none, won't be none".

Thank you for your service! You might have been the one helping me out the other day at the self checkout line at Walmart

If this is the case, consider yourself lucky you got let go. I run a heavy manufacturing shop. Safety is no joke. We have cranes we have to get certified every year. If my cranes fail, then large pieces of glass will fall on you and kill you in a very painful way. Anyone who looks the other way on something like that is a piece of shite.

Probably afraid if they didn’t can you during the “trial period” it might turn into a workman’s comp case. At least you have military retirement while you look for another job.

Developed this rather quickly a year ago. One month later I couldn't walk. Extremely painful. Turns out I had a synovial cyst between L4 and L5. Now I have a fusion after cyst removal. Good as new.
