Was already $10/lb boiled previous years. None for sale here yet. Normally there would be.

It’s not coming down anytime soon. Best thing to do is just forget about crawfish for January or February and hope for the best come March and April. As long as there’s demand and people willing to pay high prices in Jan and Feb, the prices are going to be high all year.

Either that’s imported crawfish from China or Egypt, or that’s whole boil frozen crawfish from last season

^^for sure. Zero chance the fresh LA crawfish. Boiled some shrimp this afternoon and bought 3lb boiled crawfish as a little appetizer for the wife and I. I think they were $12.99/lb.

So where are all these frozen boiled crawfish coming from? If they are domestic, why in the world was anyone freezing boiled crawfish last year? Seems it would take up a lot of freezer space and what were they planning on doing with them?
Are they from Spain or china? If so don’t the resellers have to advertise that they are selling a foreign product?

$13.99, I like crawfish but I refuse to pay over $3 a pound for live.

Three Shreveport places show up on the app, from $12.99 to $15.99

It’s whole boiled - they do it to be able to ship it to further locations and for people who want to boil in offseason
On a avg year there is an over supply of live crawfish at certain points - last year was pretty much from mid Feb till the end - whole boiling along with peeling are ways to move the excess crawfish

There's a place in New Braunfels selling frozen whole boil this weekend for $9 a pound. The owner posted on Facebook Friday night that he had 1,600 pounds of them for this weekend.

The sad part is they probably bought those crawfish for $2lb last year, and whole boiled them then basically reheat them and sell them for $9lb, that’s more highway robbery than $14lb for fresh boiled crawfish right now.

Farmers are getting $8/lb for live around Welsh. A restaurant has to add at least 50% to make any kind of profit. Anything below $12/lb boiled is last years or Chinese.

If a restaurant is selling whole boiled crawfish, it’s crawfish from last year. It’s not crawfish from this season. They probably paid $2-$3lb for that crawfish so you think paying $2-$3lb and charging $9lb for crawfish from last season is a right? That’s not good for the crawfish industry when you have that crap

They boil them then freeze them
Lots of the peeling plants have whole boilers
Some are imported from Egypt and Spain
