So happy to hear this

Really feel a close connection to Damar because I also died from vaxxxxx-related complications

I’ll never understand how Hamlin having a freak cardiac event got co-opted by the vax truthers.

They have no semblance of critical thought.

Are you current on your boosters? The fact that less than 5% of Americans are is actual period that we were right the entire time.

Have we ever figured out what Hamlin was a propaganda symbol for?

Nah, it's apparently too late for us to ask that question.

but I can also see the argument he barely played maybe it should have gone to someone who did play.

On the bright side it’s a completely meaningless award so it doesn’t matter in the slightest

False. It will be held up as propaganda as the highest achievement to so far unnamed people for so far unnamed reasons.

Joke that he won it

He got worse as a player. Hamlin winning the award, flies in the face of the original origin/spirit of the award

He also ruined the integrity of last year’s playoff race and it resulted in an asterisk SB winner.

He should not have won the award

But

They should name the award after him

That’s a pretty high bar to live up to though.

“The guy this is named after died on the field and came back to life, what are you going to do to top that?”

Was there ever any doubt? Still not sure what the grift/message was supposed to be in that deal. Seemed it perpetrated more conspiracy than anything else. He had a medical episode, recovered and is back playing. What's the big deal?

Imagine this being the take about a dude dying on the field.

Football isn't that serious my dude.

How? The Bengals still won the road and played @ the Chiefs just like they would have if they had won the regular season Bills game

They had to win back to back road games instead of chilling at Cincy for a week and blasting the Bills and then going on the road and playing the Chiefs. The accumulation effect can be real at times.

The situation with the Bills resulted in the Bengals also being publicly and openly frustrated with the nfl over the “coin toss” and “neutral afc ship scenarios”.

The NFL ended up punishing them by blatantly fixing the AFC Ship game (if you watched it, it was clear based on how it was officiated all game).

I’ve got nothing against Damar, but he shouldn’t be rewarded for the overall situation. He got to live and he got a pity spot on the 53 this season. That should be enough. He doesn’t deserve to win an award with a rich history or have the award named after him. That’s just keeping it real.
