Still no for me even in the country up there. Too cold.
It is generally pretty temperate. It doesn't have extreme cold very often, but from late April to October, the weather is fantastic. Temps are in the high 60's to 70s at the height of summer, and lows are in the 40's and 50's.

Its way colder and darker there.
This is a fact. I live in south Louisiana.
The only thing is it def rains here more in the summer, but even after an afternoon shower the sun comes roaring back out.
Seattle doesnt have enough sunshine for me.

I’m a Seattle native and the East Side suburbs-Bellevue, Mercer Island, Kirkland and Redmond are very nice and safe. About 80% the counties in Wash. State are Red. The Puget Sound Area is very lib. Seattle has the highest % of college grads. And yes, the Seattle Freeze is a real thing. Seattle is a PNW version of San Francisco.

No. The people on the west side of the Cascade mountain range have a serious attitude problem.

I have friends that live in Bellevue. If I made enough money I would absolutely live there. I hate seeing their summertime pics on social media.

I can understand this… I believe Seattle has the highest % of suicides in the country because
It’s so gloomy all the time.

I lived in the area at one time for 3 - 4 years. It is beautiful, and the combination of economic opportunity and quality of life is tough to beat anywhere, but the drawbacks are pretty significant, and you don't learn that until living there a few years:
- The weather is completely goddawful, and it's dreary, wet, dark, and cold 8 - 9 months a year; I don't particularly like Chicago or New York weather, either, but I would take that weather 10/10 over Seattle
- The traffic is among the worst in the country
- The Seattle freeze is a legitimate thing and can be tough to adjust to if you're from a more convivial part of the country
- It is very isolated and travel to go see friends, family, weddings, trips, etc. is a complete pain in the arse; you're a few hour drive to Portland, Vancouver, and Whistler, but beyond the I-5 corridor, you are at minimum a 2 hour flight to get anywhere worthwhile, and you are a red eye or all day trip to get back east (often connecting, at that)
I wouldn't do it again all things considered, even if money were no object.

Oh yeah, if you can't deal with that, especially if you work in a job indoors with no windows, you might walk up in the darkness and come home in the darkness.

Maybe I'm just getting older but I find it disconcerting to live around people not pulling in the same direction as me. It's not that I hate them or can't stand people who think differently, it's just the absence of people in authority who care (or pretend) to care about what you care about makes me uneasy now that I have a family.
i'm in a fairly red area of Texas north of Austin. I don't want my voted in people to ruin their lives, and I don't want them to ruin my life. I'd like to leave them to their own devices and vice versa for the most part.
if it were only that simple.
i abhor abortion. i don't necessarily want it outlawed, i just wish it was unthinkable. but in most instances the person i'd vote for because of other issues is going to vote to make it more difficult to have an abortion for them in Austin.
I think that all the gay stuff should stay out of the classroom and school libraries. i wish that all the people in Austin didn't want that in there or at least celebrate it, but it's mostly up to them to continue doing this to their kids. my local rep is going to say he doesn't want that here, but then push it on Austinites.

Most conservatives there are in constant fear of their jobs. They just grin and bear their whacko lib counterpart snitches.

It just attracts a lot of soulless people, the Seattle Freeze...etc.
Lots of loners and transients. Less feeling of community (except thats all Ballard people talk about) than it once had.

It is gorgeous area but I hate the cold. No getting over that. People in suburbs are super nice (Kirkland in particular).

quote:Nah. This is drastically overstated. The "bad" months are Nov - Feb. It's dark everywhere in the country then, so who gives a shite? The Chicago weather is materially worse than PNW, IMO.

It won't surprise anyone to learn that Las Vegas has the highest suicide rate in America.
At 34.5 per 100,000 people annually, Sin City scores over three times above the national rate of 10.7. One assumes there are many more people thinking about killing themselves every night when the wrong cards land.

Washington is very similar to California. A beautiful state ruined by the shitbags who live there.

well it's pretty awesome here in Texas from October to May.
i'd rather have the cooler temps without the gloom and politics unfortunately.
