He alerted the cabin crew during the pre-flight safety brief and the flight was canceled before takeoff.

Did the WEF hire folks to infiltrate the manufacturing sites and take out some bolts?

This is getting ridiculous.

Four missing fasteners? That’s how you FOD out an engine and die in a fiery crash.

Not sure which part is more concerning, the missing bolts or that a random passenger had to catch it.

Anyone here who doesn’t have extra parts leftover when they put their stuff back together should speak up now.

I’d be curious to hear from our resident pilots on this one regarding if there are certain allowances for X number of bolts to be missing while retaining integrity of that part of the plane etc. … surely there’s redundancy built into the design. Not to say that’s the case in this instance, but I remember when plane tape went viral because people didn’t understand what it was or how it was used. Underinformed people panicking sells clicks and I’m guessing with public perception being what it is, airlines are trying to avoid passenger panic at all costs, even if it requires canceling a flight for something that happens all the time.

If 9 won't hold it, 10 won't either.

Smart to cancel the flight because if you notice one glaringly overlooked area, there are likely more.

Probably borrowed them to replace the ones holding the engine on.

Can you imagine if you saw this and didnt say anything pre-takeoff?

I'd be nervously watching that wing the entire time the plane was in the air.

So, my preflight checklist now includes watching the plane from the terminal and looking for issues. Then when boarding, pause to look out the windows for missing screws/wings/engines, and alerting the cabin crew that I will not be flying with them today without those items.

Great, now everyone on that flight will die in crazy circumstances. Final Destination has ruined me.
