Unsophisticated Breakdown of The 2024 LSU Baseball Team…

With College Baseball Season less than a month away. Here’s a very basic walkthrough of keynotes and takeaways for those who don’t follow the Baseball offseason closely.
*Jay Johnson is still the best recruiter in the Country, and he loves doing it.
*We have an All-Star Staff.
*On paper we aren’t as talented as we were last year (won’t be for a minute), but we have way more quality depth at almost every position. This team can be better than last year because we have the right players, they’re just not as proven, and alignment will take time.
*This Bullpen is f***ing loaded: Some big names, proven Pitchers, talented gunslingers with shite still left to prove, highly regarded Freshmen… We have it all.
*Cam Johnson, Justin Loer, and Gage Jump are gonna eat.
*It'll nearly be an entire season of “growing pains” (especially with this schedule), but the ceiling of this team should terrify everyone.
-
*Seriously, don’t be surprised if we’re 18-0, 17-1, or closer to that out the gate. And don't be surprised if we’re not. LSU can win a lot of games in their first 22 Games. But this is Baseball, can’t overlook anybody.
-
*After that 20-ish Game stretch… You have to play: Florida, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, and Tennessee in back-to-back series (with cupcakeish weekday games in between). Don’t be shocked if you lose a lot here. However, this is also awesome for us because this gauntlet will happen early enough in the season so as not to sabotage it if it goes south, and we’ll start to see who this team is sooner rather than later (for those who can’t wait). We have the highest ceiling because of depth, and an even higher floor than usual, but many things have to go right. The schedule gets lighter after that gauntlet but that’s still not saying much because you have: Alabama, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M to get through.
-
*When this team starts to click, it’ll look nearly unbeatable. But how many beatings and games will that take? That’s the biggest question, either way, you should be excited for the 2024 LSU Baseball Team.

I think we are considerably more talented this coming season than last season. However we don’t have the star power at the top like we did last season.

We have the highest ceiling because of depth, and an even higher floor

I’m really starting to believe 56-0 is very possible

Going to be a fun season……again.

Adam’s positional breakdown begins Feb 1st. That is when I will feel baseball season is here.
Our offense will take a step back this season obviously. I am worried about not having enough honestly.

Correct, more talented in terms of numbers, but no Skenes or Crews around, yet. And yes, that’s another way of saying, “You won’t be bad even if you’re bad.” I meant that as an even higher floor in regard to what the other team’s normal floor is, my bad. The floor is still a top-25 team. Whereas, you’d normally think the floor is a 28-win season or worse, but not with the depth we have, we’ll be good regardless.

Hey, I mean. Last season there was this guy on Facebook who spammed every LSU Baseball Post with, “LSU National Champions/ LSU will win it all.” He became pretty well-known before long. I witnessed hundreds of LSU fans laugh at him, and call him this and that. He never failed to make that comment for every post no matter what was happening, and look what happened last season. He was right. Belief is the first part of the process.

The rant will call for Jay to be fired during the 2nd game top of the 5th after a solo HR.

I think this team is lower floor but higher ceiling than last year. Schedule is gonna be tough and I could see a rocky start, at least once sec play begins, but if we can stay healthy and get our shite together by the back half of the season, we'll be back in Omaha looking to repeat. Should be another fun year.

LSU won last year with coaching, talent, leadership, and balls (pun intended).
The big question is, "Who will the guys that pull everyone else forward?" Dudes last year had moxie.

Assuming pitching doesn't massively underperform, this team will go as far as Kling and Jones take them. Those two are the key to the season. They need to make the jump and perform at a high level.

My favorite quote from Jay at last night’s First Pitch Banquet, and I’m paraphrasing:
“We don’t see ourselves as ‘defending’ anything in 24, we’re out for blood”

That's a lot of words to say "potential"
This team has a metric ton of potential, and I think we have the coaching to develop it.
But baseball is baseball. It's not hard to lose two games in a tournament, even if you are really good.
I'm ready to watch!

I agree with this. We are going to need those two, or else a couple of the new guys, to fill some of the holes in the lineup. If not, we will be in a lot of 3-2 ball games.

Haven't seen anyone else's schedule but it would seem safe to say, due to the strength of the league, that every team will face rough schedules like LSU's. That's when pitching depth will kick in & get LSU through that murderers' row. Once again, Hoover will be more difficult than any regionals.
