You're giving them that long?

I already want him fired. We are 22 days into 2024 and we have yet to win a game. How long does he think the 2023 NC will keep his job safe?

Should make for a great season. I’m expecting a somewhat rocky start to SEC play, but by the time we start figuring out the seeding for the tournament, this team will be in fighting shape.

If we start hot in sec play we could put a absolute stranglehold on winning the conference

They're loaded. They'll lose a midweek game or two somewhere along the way. They may even hit a slump like last year. Get a national seed, and get hot in the end. That's what baseball is.

I couldn't agree more. I stay away from here when that happens though.

We are quick to say: "we have to play Tennessee, Arkansas, etc.", but many other boards are saying: "damn, we have to play LSU".
We have earned that right, so let's enjoy it.

I think this team has the potential to reach Omaha again, but to expect a repeat is setting yourself up for disappointment.

Winning CWS titles is VERY hard.

Acknowledging that other team we will play are good and will be tough matchups does not diminish our team in any way.

Of course they're going to say similar about us.

Our schedule has like 6 or 7 legit Omaha contenders on it. It's okay to acknowledge that, especially when we have a run of 4 weekends in a row against them.

I think that is a believable message - THIS team did not win the championship last year. A lot of key contributors have moved on. The exciting thing each year is to see who steps it up. Will not surprise me at all if we go 16-14 or even 14-16 in the SEC - I just want to be in gear at the end of the season.

LSU won last year with coaching, talent, leadership, and balls (pun intended).
The big question is, "Who will the guys that pull everyone else forward?" Dudes last year had moxie.

This is a fair point. Last year's team definitely knew they were good and carried that weight. Losing Crews, Skenes and Morgan as talented as they were, just as big of a loss was their leadership. Who will be this years leaders is somewhat up in the air. I think having those guys' confidence was contageous and really helped to steady the ship when the waters got rough last year. We're gonna need some guys to step up in that regard this year.

I could see Travinski and Milazzo taking some of that. I could see Pearson almost filling the Dugas role. White by nature of his talent could fill some of that void too. The new/transfer guys potentially but I don't really know their demeanor. Kling and Jones have potential for that but they're still young, so I wouldn't say that's a given this year.

Seriously, don’t be surprised if we’re 18-0, 17-1, or closer to that out the gate. And don't be surprised if we’re not.

Now this is the kind of in depth analysis I’ve been looking for. Project needs to step his game up

I personally think you miss the Dugas’s and Cades more than you miss the Crews on O .

We will definitely miss that experience in the postseason. Whether it be crews or dugas or beloso or morgan. Thats alot of years of college baseball to replace. The older teams usually have a better chance at a deep run

That’s right!

I really do think this team can be as good or better than last years team though. Especially the overall pitching staff. If bats come around then this team will be scary.

From what I've been told, the starting rotation should look like this: Hurd, Jump, Holman.

The lineup could be something like: CF - Kling, RF - Ruddell/Brown, 3B - White, DH - Tranvinski, 2B - Pearson, 1B - Jones, SS - Braswell, C - Neal/Milazzo, LF - Bingham

This is all as of now...obviously, Jay will mix it up throughout the season and this spring

Made several Fall scrimmages & Travinski, & Milazzo to a lesser but not by much extent, was all over the place, clapping, patting asses, high fiving, showing why he is wearing #8. Milazzo would walk out to the mound, when rookies were pitching, & obviously coaching the young pitchers, out there for several minutes. White, while not dressed out, was all over & around the dugouts. Don't know anything about Hurst's personality but he's earned the right to be a leader of the staff as well. But, #8 & Milazzo were leading their butts off all Fall.

I would absolutely love that pitching rotation. I think it would be one of the best in the country. Hopefully lol
