Glad you’re good that hail looked nasty on radar.
I was hoping it was just hail but from the sound of things you got the tornado and hail combo.
The 30A tornado might make it all the way to Georgia. They weren’t kidding about super cells at the beach.

Good luck over there.
BR area spared again. It's because I picked up/secured all the loose furniture and shite on my back patio (works every time).

tide can you post an updated one of those radar maps? Just got the tornado warning here looks like it's coming to us in Marianna...
Posted on 1/9/24 at 6:27 am to shell01
Yes you should take shelter in Marianna it’s spinning and confirmed on the ground by the NWS.
There’s another one trying to spin up by Paxton/Florala
And another on the ground moving ENE up by Eglin AFB.
And another offshore spinning headed towards Destin pass offshore.

Damn. Coming in hot this AM.
Looks like locals were right to close schools over there.

Anyone who can make sense of this NW of Miramar Beach?
And it’s now tornado warned.

I just woke up and that Marianna tornado looked like something I’d see in Tennessee or Kentucky. I hope shell and the everyone else is okay

Major damage in Panama City Beach and Panama City. Treasure island marina got leveled. Lot of damage on Thomas drive. Multiple homes, apartments, and business in that area were flattened. Haven’t ventured far from St. Andrews. Mostly limbs and smaller debris on my street. Some of the docks on the bayou at the end of the road are gone.

When did we start freaking out over radar signatures and calling them all tornados?
Not sure if serious. It’s the best way to warn people without eyewitness reports - which are arguably less reliable.
Also, after the weather event is over they verify with boots on the ground.

RTR,
Once we're clear of these pesky tornadoes, you wanna start another thread about next week's arctic blast that James Spann has been hinting at for a week now?

My parents live about 25 miles west of PCB on Choctawhatchee Bay. Mom said at 5am it was kicking pretty bad. They got alerts on their phone. She said it’s still bad with the line moving through. Hate to hear of the damage. Glad you’re ok, rubble.

I'm about thirty miles east of it near Mexico Beach. It's been pretty windy so far, but it will get much worse soon

I would, but we may have another severe weather/flooding threat at the end of this week to get through first.

How can there be a tornado warning in Atlanta when it’s 48 degrees? That’s unheard of I thought. I thought it had to be 66 or greater to have any kind of energy and thermodynamics

They really **** the bed on that storm.
This was what it looked like on radar at 4:45am CT
They waited to give a warning until after 520 and it came ashore a minute or two later. Not a lot of warning for a storm that was hitting at night in the dark when people had to look at their phone, get up and find cover, not to mention shake loose children if they have them.
Really hoping no one got hurt.

Looks like Round 2 for PCB. That line has some hooks in it.

Next time just leave it out and it will fly away like the Wizard of Oz to Livingston Parish.

I’m sure you’ll come back to bump this when it doesn’t happen.
Well I'm back. Let's check the grand totals shall we?
From the BTR measurenent station, weather.gov has a total of 0.74 inches of rainfall that fell January 8th.
