Weather forecasts this morning for BR started with 3.7 inches of rain beginning at noon.

And in traditional fashion, it's now down to 2.5 inches of rain starting at 4pm.

In a couple hours it will be 0.7 inches of rain and a gentle breeze.

I wouldn’t put too much stock into that graphic. I think it was kinda dumb for him to tweet it. The whole hatched 3/4 area will have a good chance of getting severe threats.

Much of the area in the enhanced risk zone is without doppler coverage right now. Slidell and Lake Charles are the nearest NWS dopplers. I think the Slidell one might be offline right now because it's moving to Hammond.

Just reading back through the thread.

KLIX being down sucks, but it mainly sucks for the general public wanting to use it. The NWS has access to the private radars owned by the news channels, so they will be okay for the most part. Our normal weather thread storm tracking will take a big hit, though.

I guess the only question is how good are those sets

Easy to say in Marquette, MI.

Every single time! Oh, did we say impending doom? We meant to say scattered showers and a breeze.

I’m sure you’ll come back to bump this when it doesn’t happen.

Now that's just not a fair statement. In 1888, Marquette was struck by its only tornado on record on August 20. 50 feet wide and it destroyed roofs, chimney's awnings, and even a circus tent, causing upwards of $350 in damage.

No doubt.
I’m surprised we haven’t gotten a few of the usual folks bitching already that there hasn’t been a few tornados yet and ready to call this a bust and nothing burger

This is what I said yesterday:

quote:

It is going to take patience with this one. There should be plenty of activity early that won't be too much of a threat. It will look like a bust until it doesn't. It still has a decent chance for a bust, as far as tornadoes are concerned, I think, but not as likely as the similar setup a few weeks ago.

FWIW we've had have a wind advisory in Cenla since 9 AM. So far it's calm, but just started raining.
