Alright I’ve given it some thought, but here are my True Detective season rankings:

Season 1
Mare of Easttown
The Outsider
Season 2 (meet me at Sonic, I enjoyed this season for what it is)
Season 3 (best acting since season 1 but the story was pretty boring)

Season 4

Lol there were so many absurd things in this show I completely forgot about that one. I guess a little cold water is nothing for those Ennis folk.

A little group therapy, update...

I did start a rewatch of S1 to cleanse my pallet of S4.

We already knew, but night and day difference between these seasons. I love season 1

I've rewatched S1 prob 5 times and post-S4, you really appreciate how everything done is with purpose and builds on the plot

Plus the acting is top notch

I was going to do something similar, but with Mare of Eastown (which I have not seen) if the group recommends it.

Just popping in to say I binged S4 last week and ended up getting to E6 Sunday night. Not on purpose, I actually thought it was done which is why I started it.

What a terd of a show.

I watched S1 a long time ago and although I was disappointed with the ending, overall I thought it was a good show.

I skipped S2 based on the reaction here.

And didn't even bother to look in to S3.

After watching S4 I decided to give S3 a try. Wow, I know it's not seen to be as good as S1, but compared to S4 it's a masterpiece. I finished E5 last night and the stark contrast in writing, acting, dialogue, hell, EVERYTHING, between S3 and S4 is huge.

S3 has been really good. I love the time skips, the relationship between the main actors, Hayse and West, Hayes and his wife, Hayes and his son, they have all been REAL and felt like actual people having conversations and history with each other. S4 is written and acted like AI wrote it. There's no believability to any of it. And I truly don't understand how anyone can say J Foster did a good job acting that shite role. Don't be blinded by the fact that it's JODY FOSTER. She still sucks in this role.

I will go back and watch S1 when I'm done with S3 but so far, I see S3 as being equal to S1. I hope it holds through the finale.

Either way, frick S4 and Issa whatever, she sucks and should never work in hollywood again.

Being 6 episodes with 3 going off the rails made this palatable. Having one of the WOAT finales helps a great deal.

nicpizzolatto TRUE DETECTIVE AGGREGATE POST - this here is the place for all your trolling/support/infighting around True Detective and the absolute moral degeneracy and misogyny of anyone who did not think it was good. Let's move these screeds off my posts about my wife, true love, and my father's death, kay? l'd say "stay civil" but of course civility has no place when criticism of a television show indicates some form of Hitlerian evil that must be stamped out. So roll on, tide. Satire is welcome, and do try to have a nice day We'll be capping comments at 1350, which seems like plenty of space for this manufactured proxy culture clash. Alas, all things must end, and boredom is real, so get your fill while you can. And again, do have a nice day.

Haha...yeah misogyny is the only reason that anyone could possibly think ill of season 4. Whatever helps you sleep at night, Nic.

Gonna throw another recommendation for Tokyo Vice In here for those interested in a quality crime show. Season 2 is airing now on Max.

Started a rewatch of it a few nights ago. 100% worth a watch.
