and don’t think about political implications.
It's impossible. Watching a product of Hollywood and asking someone to ignore the politics is like visit the Vatican and telling someone to ignore the religiosity. Hollywood injects politics into everything they do, the themes and characters are all written to depict left wing thoughts and politics as the "good guys ".

This show does not do that, so save it for another thread.
Having Jodie fricking Foster as the lead isn’t virtue signaling or trying to send some kind of lib message.
She has an Oscar from 3 decades ago for crying out loud.

I ended up starting season 1 again halfway through this BS. I wish Nic would come back.

Also, was the opening scene portraying a herd of caribou seeing the sun go down and commit mass suicide by jumping off a cliff?
Holding out hope that Travis is Rust’s dead dad from Alaska.
The reintroduction of the carcosa spiral has me intrigued. Feel like the killer is ultimately going to be the dad with the mail order wife or Qaavik who is banging the police trooper.

Give me one example of a white man talking or someone talking about a white man in that episode that wasn’t negative. I’m still gonna watch. I love True Detective.

Who was Travis?
ETA: never mind, it was the “ghost”

Well, that 1st episode sucked.
The casting sucks..
I like Jodie Foster generally in movies...
But she's frankly too old.
I'm not into face piercings and prison neck tattoos so whenever the black chick is on screen, it's a distraction.
There's teenage lesbian sex conversations.
There's a palpable anti-male vibe as most are weak and dominated by females, including sexually.
Even though this setting in real life is 95% tough guys. Alaska Pipeline areas and jobs and such.
But frankly, all virtue-signaling aside. The episode was just boring and the acting sucked. Not intrigued. Felt lame and run of the mill. The writing is bad.

I thought it was pretty good. Jodie has some gravitas to her.

I'm not into albinos, but I there's one in a movie it doesn't ruin it. You're being sensitive.
Teenage lesbian sex. Oh noooooz. News flash: there are lesbian teenagers in the world.

You're under attack!!! Runnnnnnn!
So you never let your woman get on top in bed? She must be very sexually satisfied

First episode was, eh, meh. I'll give it a chance to get rolling. Seems like a lot to set up.
Is it just me, or does the acting so far seem bad? There are some quality actors in it, but it's like bad dialogue writing and directing or something.

Same.

What the frick is wrong with people? Why are they doing this grotesque self mutilation to themselves?
Do they REALLY think it looks attractive?
They have to know it's a clear signal that they are mentally and/or emotionally fricked up right???

Are people on here saying the black chick is hot?
Jesus H, we’ve gone from Alex Daddario to this chick. Our society is doomed.

So who are thinking killed the crew? It was a supernatural thing?
Didn’t the girl nailing the cop kid have the same markings on her?
Is that same girl and the black chick related? They were saying stuff about their mom
And what the hell was with the guy dancing in the snow

It was solid but I’m lost as hell
So are the scientist facility and the other case with the girl connected?
I mean, they clearly implied this....but were you seriously expecting an answer to this question in episode 1. It's pretty clear the connection between the cold case and the science facility is one of the main plot pieces.

I might follow this thread and you guys can let me know how it goes.
It’s like a high school kid stepped out of their first drama class and just wrote something down on a piece of paper and they went with it. Who wrote this nonsense? The dialogue and acting is awful. The CGI. Even what they found at the end of the episode looked like straight to DVD props. All of it. Even Jodie Foster’s acting is terrible.
I seriously doubt I get past the first episode. Terrible.

I will say I’m all in on this season and will watch the whole thing
With that said, it has 100% on rotten tomatoes and critics have gone nuts over it it
After the first episode, it left a lot to be desired. I think the black chick is a horrible actor
Edit: just saw the audience score is 55%. Ouch
