What do you think of this? I actually trust the Mormon Church to keep that land useful for agriculture more than I trust China or even Bill Gates. But why does a church need all that? Are they planning to feed the world? I suspect they may get that opportunity.

You can breed a lot of women on that land.

Actually the land they own in Florida is a huge cattle ranch, and one of the top producers of beef there is. They bought the land basically in between Orlando, and Cape Canaveral Florida when it was almost worthless.

Let's put it another way. Of the 893 million acres of farm and ranch land in the US, the Mormon Church owns about 400,000 acres. Less than one half of one tenth of one percent.

Better than Chyna or Blackstone owning it.

Diversification of revenue streams. I wonder if non profit status drives something here as well.

Even the Mormons don’t want to live in Louisiana, that’s sad. Can’t even bike down the streets because of all the potholes.

I would much rather the Mormons than the Chinese.

No one in our government seems to care about the Chinese. Instead, our leaders are either frickin Chinese spies or getting fricked by them.

More Mormons. Less Chinese.

I'm in the FL panhandle, near port St Joe and Mexico Beach. They own 2.2 million acres here. Initially it was about 400k. Hurricane Michael leveled 3 million acres of pine trees so they bought the land at a great discount bc it all had to be cleared. This was fine for them bc they usually turn it into pasture. From what I understand they sold all their land in s FL to purchase all this up here. They keep to themselves and lease their land to hunt on pretty cheap.

Not sure if it’s still true but at one time they were the largest single religious group represented in the military special forces.

There were a LOT of morman green berets.

Our scout troop's November service project was make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (600+ total) for the homeless thru one of the local soup kitchens. We had cases and cases of jelly, all made by the Mormon church. Oddly enough, all the peanut butter was supplied by the catholic church....
