It's an important distinction. Young X/old Millennial (born 77-83ish).

We're the sub-generation who grew up fully without the internet as a true societal force and had it take over either in late high school to college. We are the ones who got to see both sides of the aisle prior to adulthood.

Only the techiest of tech geeks were living an internet life prior to this and the younger Millennials had the internet as a staple in late adolescence (unless they were in a super rural area). They had social media in undergrad. Changed everything.

Don’t different people have different “reason”? So who sets the standard of who’s “reason” is to be used as a standard. Sorry, the ability to discern is not the origin of morality.

Depending on the study, there’s usually 7-10 universal morals that cut through all cultures around the globe. These are values that seem to be found regardless of religion. They’re simply learned through eons of societal evolution. The universal goodness is baked in around the concept of a larger golden rule.

“The rules: help your family, help your group, return favours, be brave, defer to superiors, divide resources fairly, and respect others' property. These were found in a survey of 60 cultures from all around the world.“

Except reason, which is where "objective" morality originates as well (in most cases, at least, there are some outliers that are based in irrationality).
Reason cannot get us to an objective moral standard by itself. People use reason all the time to come to different conclusions about what is morally good and morally necessary (what we “ought” to do).

Aren't satanists just angry atheists who are trolling Christians?

I know they claim otherwise, but I've yet to see anything to prove me wrong on this.

I think most are. There are very few actual Satanists. Hang around here long enough and you'll be convinced they control the entire world

I don’t think Satan cares very much what vehicle is used to stop people from worshipping and following God.
He’s just as pleased to use religion or science as anything else.

An angel who rebelled against God and was, as a result, cast out of heaven, taking other rebellious angels with him.

If you’re not gonna buy into Christianity, then why go out of your way to invent an entirely new fake religion just to rub their noses into it? Seems like a lot of pointless effort.

I don’t think all Satanism is fake, and I believe that dark spiritual forces have powers that they would share with humans if the humans open themselves up to this spirit world. It’s not something to play around with.
I shared this story on another board a few days ago.
I heard an interview with Matthew Perry and he was recounting how he came into acting.
He said he was struggling and desperate for a real role and got down on his knees to pray.
He said,” God, I don’t care what you do to me, just make me famous.”
He said instantly, a white orb appeared in the room and hovered over his head. He said it traveled down his body and he felt complete euphoria for about 5-6 minutes and then it disappeared. He said he got the job on Friends about 3 weeks later.
He also went on to say it never brought him happiness.
Obviously, something appeared to him and answered his prayer, but it wasn’t God.

LaVey's stated purpose was to attack religion, not start a new religion

He felt he was making some sort of critique of religion's alleged faults

Already answered on page 1

quote:

any religion creates the avenue for this sort of response. The more dominant a religion, the more likely these responses are, especially in a developed society (which excludes most Muslim-dominated countries, for obvious reasons).

And those that are "fake" satanists are in for a REALLY big surprise in the end.

It's literally the same process primarily used to communicate moral standards from religions.

And this doesn't occur within religions, just the same?

Their individual belief doesn't impact your belief.

No. Without Christianity, it is just BS like Christianity. To believe in Satan is to believe in Christ and Vise versa, One cannot exist without the other.

Personally, I don't believe any of this garbage. Even if I believed in god, I doubt I would be a fan.

Outside of worship of deities, there is a lot of overlap in the philosophy of Jesus and the Satanic Temple.

You couldn't be more wrong.

When asked to boil Christianity down to it's essence, Jesus replied, "Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, your soul, and your strength, and love your neighbor as yourself." He said every other prececpt flowed from those two.

The Satanic Bible says of Satanism's essential core philosophy, "Do what thou wilt; for that is the whole of the law."

One is 100% other-directed and the other is 100% selfish.

You really couldn't have picked two more opposite philosophies to claim similarity between.
