Here’s what I don’t understand about the CFP selection that I’m not seeing discussed much

If Alabama doesn’t convert an absolute miracle hailmary in the Iron Bowl, they have 2 losses and they aren’t in. Auburn was a pretty bad football team this year. Why does that game not work against them? They lost that game but for a gift from the gods, hailmary plays are awesome but they’re complete and utter luck.

Yet the committee says FSU doesn’t deserve it because they beat everyone they played but their best player is hurt. Bama essentially lost to a horrible Auburn team WITH its best player but that’s not counted against them.

I know I know “they won the game”, if this were an actual playoff I’d agree with you W/L is what matters. However in this case the committee straight up admits winning and losing isn’t what necessarily matters but rather how you look doing it. How does FSU not look better than Bama winning games by 10+ while Bama is relying on all time luck to beat a shitty Auburn team?

CFP and ESPN overplayed the Travis hand. If you take a look at the resumes. It's not even close.

ETA: Honestly, a handful of games for a lot of teams come down to a few plays. Why does it matter a win is a win.

Bama played Texas in the third game of the season. They had multiple TDs called back due to penalties. Milroe through three INTs. Two penalties cost the game.

Don't forget Bama's awesome performance against USF. FSU went undefeated and whooped a top 15 team in the conference title game with a third-string QB. Only Bama fans can't see why the decision was so terrible

Not how it works.

Bama is the better team. Therefore, they’re in the playoffs.

Enjoy watching!

Bama isn’t the enemy here, they are ranked 4th and that makes sense, it’s Texas. We shouldn’t be debating FSU and Bama, but Texas and FSU, sure Texas beat Bama, but what else have they done? It should be
1. Michigan
2. Washington
3. FSU
4. Bama
Bama beat the Heisman winner, #1 Georgia whose x2 defending champs, and ran the SEC. Texas beat Bama early and struggled against OU.

Because it's Nick Saban's Alabama team. Period.

You're surprised Alabama is given special treatment? New to college football?

Auburn fans came out of that miserable Iron Bowl loss thinking that if there was one small silver lining it is that Alabama is OUT of the playoffs no matter what based on that game. The emperor had no clothes.

Alas, we underestimated the corruption and greed.

Our new, smaller silver lining is that UGA and FSU (two teams we despise albeit it less than Bama) got screwed out of the playoff.

And you think this is a new thought? And just so you know, when is a loss a loss? When you are on the short end and there are zeros on the clock.

Florida State 31 Boston College 29. What the hell was that all about?

FSU 31 Clemson 24 (OT) That's 4 loss Clemson.

FSU 27 Miami 20 at Doak Campbell That's 5 loss Miami. Why it's almost like rival games are the hardest.

FSU 24 Florida 15 That's 5-7 Florida. Another rival game, another close game.

A dominant FSU team in the great ACC? More Rant mythology.

It was never going to matter. ESPN wanted Bama in and found a way to force it. They weren’t going to screw up UT as it is too big of a market and so screwed over FSU.

It’s pathetic and Bama fans will be the main ones claiming things, but Bama absolutely did. It deserve to be in there over FSU or UT.

It was a scam by ESPN to control their bottom line and is exactly why the playoff idea tied to a network was utterly pathetic and nothing more than a money grab.

In the end, the best thing that can happen is Michigan destroys Bama and embarrasses the committee for claiming it was to make the 4 best. Bama was not one of the 4 best teams. Barely beating Auburn on a miracle play, beating a 4 win Arky team at home by 3 and scraping by a bad A&M team as well as mediocre USF showed that.

They needed some shady stuff to beat a bad UTk team too.

Hopefully for once karma will hit Bama, but they never should have been in this position.

Why did Georgia, for 1st time in playoff time, go from 1 to 6? has never happened this late, and no team has gone from 1 in last weekend to out of playoff.

they wanted Bama at all costs, and risked losing the last shred of credibility to take them.

The PROOF that the selection was a sham is that IF Bama deserves it over FSU because of the INJURY then why the frick did they put FSU OVER Georgia in the final rankings???? The reason is because it’s a sham.

Fsu played only one ACC team all year that had less than 4 losses. That team was the ACC'S #2 team Louisville that loss to the SEC'S #8 team Kentucky.

Most teams have a win like that over a “lesser” team. Just remember if Alabama wins it’s all fricking Auburn’s fault.
