Sigh. Good for him.
He really got Tulane going.
Hopefully they make a smart hire.

Fritz was very lucky these last two seasons winning every close game that could have gone either way. Tulane is really losing very little here and Fritz is maximizing that lucky streak that he probably could never duplicate

Please do yourself a favor and look at Tulane's record by year by coach:

The last two years they are the most relevant they have been in decades.

Man, it’s hard to win at Tulane. Close wins are irrelevant. He won.

Is that really the best job you can get by winning at Tulane? Seems more like a lateral move

I think there’s a lot of truth to this. Fritz always ran slow, plodding offenses emphasizing ball control. He caught lightning in a bottle with Pratt, Spears, and the Watts brothers and an overachieving OL in 2022. We experienced a reversion to the mean this year. He ran triple option and spread option at Georgia Southern before coming to Tulane. Will be interested to see how that style translates in the air raid Big XII.

They looked flat yesterday. On offense for sure. This has been a long time coming (At least the last 2 years).
Hopefully, the new AD will get a guy who can maintain some success. He appears to be a respectable guy. The last AD was a pompous jerk just waiting on his next move.

I don’t think he’s had the talent to really run an air raid offense so that’s why he runs that ball control offense. He seems like a coach that looks at his team and will do what is best for the team. It will be interesting to see what he does at Houston though.

We’ll see, it’ll be interesting. outside of 2022, his offenses just didn’t score a lot of points. I do remember when he was hired that people were concerned his offensive style wasn’t modern enough to keep up with Cincy, Houston, UCF, SMU, etc., which ended up being a very valid concern. He was sub .500 at Tulane until this season.
But he’s obviously an outstanding coach, and resurrected a dead program. Tulane owes him a huge debt of gratitude. He’s proved you can win there, hopefully we hire another up and coming coach and keep the momentum going.

Yeah, he's been great for Tulane but people forget that he ran a 2 win team in 2021. His Tulane team this year was incredibly overrated and kept barely winning games against some of the worst CFB teams in the country. They had a very soft schedule even for an AAC team. Could easily be a 4-5 loss season this year with a more difficult schedule.

Gave his players a 30 minute heads up to show for meeting.

I do believe Ida had a lot to do with that.

He was great for Tulane obviously, just not sold that he'll be successful fast enough at Houston. He's 63 and didn't really achieve anything other than a good season until last year, his 7th season.

I think this could be the best hire for all of college football this year. Fritz has an outstanding record.
Honestly see UH being really salty in year 2-3.
