Fritz did an amazing job at Tulane; this is a major blow to Tulane.

Tulane needs to right a 25 year old wrong, go get Rich Rod

I think you go get someone like Sumrall, young hungry good coaches that have been successful.

They will use you as a stepping stone and that’s ok.

Keep being the stepping stone until you’re the destination.

Is that really the best job you can get by winning at Tulane? Seems more like a lateral move
Power 5 school in one of nation's most fertile football recruiting grounds. The Houston metro area has nearly the same amount of people as the entire state of Louisiana. He can be successful if he just nabs half of the city's 3 stars.

Fritz has an air of competence that we haven’t seen at Tulane in a long time.

24-3 in the last two years is the best it’s ever been. You can only beat the teams on your schedule.

Someone said this year was “regressing to the mean.” If 11-2 is the mean, I’ll take it.

I like the idea of hiring a hungry young guy. Better to swing and miss on one of those than to be someone’s retirement plan.

I was talking about the offense, but your point is well taken

He’s a great coach, just not known for explosive offense. He preaches discipline. Players jump up after every play and immediately hand the ball to the nearest referee with two hands. You don’t see that much in football anymore. I just wonder if UH will have patience with a few 6-6 or 7-5 years and offensive output under 20 pts a game. We’ll see.

It's actually funny some people are saying he only won close games this year.

Even if he only won 9 games a year at Tulane that would've been a great job.

I'm extremely interested to see what Tulane does now.

This was my point also. Fritz is a great program builder, but he's 63 and super conservative. It's going to take some time and he's pretty old, and Houston just displayed a real lack of patience with the current coach. I could see this not going well.

Maybe Denbrock is the right for the job.

Lol. Willie “AARP” Fritz will got a good retirement home package. He will retire in 3 years after he goes 6-6 2 years in a row then bottoms out at 3-9 in year three. The dude was awful without an NFL QB. There sure ain’t one on Houston’s roster to prop him up now.

Wait what

Cortez Hankton? The WR coach?

That would be a truly bizarre hire.

Tulane can get an established young HC that has already done good things.

he did a hell of a job, and even though i'm not really a Tulane fan, i appreciate him putting another LA team on the map...

hope someone can come in and continue what he's started there

He is from New orleans and is from the offensive side of the ball.

Has been the pgc at Georgia and now lsu.

I think they will go with someone else but i could see him getting a job like this.

Wasn’t he there 5 years? Lost to Rice? Couldn’t recruit? Had no interest in NIL? Went 1-3 vs teams in the American or there last year? Two Big 12 wins came on a hailmary and in overtime?

Houston and Tulane were in the same conference for a while... I would have expected Fritz to leave but thought he'd go somewhere better
