Could have been said when LSU fired Miles.

I always wondered where Alleva went.

It was said. But LSU didn’t pay Les 75 million either. Maybe A&M should just take the interim tag off and try to catch lightning in a bottle like LSU did with O.

You guys really are a cult. It’s like a memo was sent out to repeat the talking points. The only issue at hand here was your genius AD and boosters gave a man 100 million guaranteed. Zero incentive whatsoever to succeed. He had you the second the ink was dried.

Alleva was a complete idiot for bringing Miles back after all of the old women on facebook cried bc he was getting fired. Then the next year we started out 2-2 and he was fired anyways. Its eerily similar to Arkansas today.

What was he doing?

quote:

The starkest example occurred in late October of last year, when four A&M players were caught smoking marijuana in the South Carolina visitors locker room following the Aggies’ loss to the Gamecocks. None of the four players is still with the A&M program, but the eye-popping incident amplified players’ notion Fisher wasn’t much for enforcing rules.

quote:

Fisher, too, in the past year appeared more checked out than ever in representing A&M away from the field in the offseason. He inexplicably backed out of a pledge to speak at the Texas High School Coaches Convention in July, flustering its organizers, and he never honored a commitment from his right-hand man, Mark Robinson, to speak to the Touchdown Club of Houston this past offseason. Bjork fired Robinson, too, on Sunday.

quote:

Fisher, who appeared more disengaged than ever after he was forced to hire an offensive play-caller last winter based on a perpetually plodding offense, also was the only one among the 13 FBS head coaches in the state of Texas to turn down Dave Campbell’s Texas Football for the publication’s “Republic of Football” podcast this past offseason.

quote:

Fisher’s stubbornness was epic, too, in his begrudgingly turning over play-calling duties to new offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino, and Fisher’s fingerprints still seemed to be all over an offense that only lately has appeared to pick up steam — with Fisher less engaged than ever the past couple of weeks as perhaps he sensed his tenure winding down.

quote:

Fisher’s offensive line last year and for much of this one has been awful in protecting the quarterback — the Aggies are on their third-string quarterback for a second straight year — but Fisher refused to acknowledge hiring the controversial and fiery Steve Addazio to direct the offensive line was a mistake, instead in the offseason referring to Addazio as a “very good coach” who “will do a great job” in 2023. (He has not.)

Basically, he did a shitty job and pissed a lot of people off, including MANY of his players.

He collected his big bucks and checked out.

I keep seeing this posted but no one will ever actually expand on it. Seems like it's one of those classic things that fans will say about a fired coach when they're just trying to rationalize

ETA - I now see the above post

He didn't go on a podcast, didn't speak at the high school coaches club, and had players smoking weed in the visitors locker room (which was definitely a big issue). But that list is mostly just crap that wouldn't matter if the coach was winning the way the fans wanted and expected. It's no worse than any other coach

Another article that details a lot of the internal issues.

Yeah, ok.

eta-I'm no ATM fan, but the above article was interesting and reminded me very much of the behind the scenes issues we had with Paul Chryst. Which also got him fired.

Which included giving him a big boost and an extension. It sounds like a very well thought out plan.

When you’re getting paid SEVENTY FIVE MILLION DOLLARS to coach college football, it would be wise to discipline your players, honor your commitments, and basically be a stand-up human.

It’s not that hard.

Bjork will be fired sooner than later. ADs don’t survive a process like this

The comments are based on multiple in-depth articles from two national outlets. None of us need to make the case to you.

Not much of it would have mattered if he were the great savant we were promised, but you can't blow off requests from the administration and fly out of town whenever you want for 2 or 3 years straight if you're not doing something amazing.

When you have 100 million coming your way no matter what you tend to not give a shite about much. It’s just a waiting game.

You’re right. He didn’t give two shits about winning, nor doing what it takes to make it happen. It became glaringly obvious.

He needed to go.

So big time college coaches in Tx are required to attend way more obligations and events than any other coaches in the other 49 states(on top of their million other responsibilities)because a bunch of high school coaches have inflated egos in the state of Texas. Seems like Jimbo was guaranteed 100 million and thought “This shite is fricking dumb.” And decided to just ride out the contract.

Ah, yes. Because Herman and Napier knocked it out of the park when they went to big programs lol
