How do you feel about the new school zoning?

Personally it doesn't impact me but I'd love for my kids to go to Prairieville High considering they have state of the art everything. I mean Olympic size pools, artificial turf fields, a spa for athletes, media center, drama center, etc. should be the new baby in AP over Dutchtown.

Pretty sure all AP high schools have these now.

Still have a gayass aqua man as the mascot….
So no.

I live in God’s Country and my kids were going to and still will go to St. Amant High. Only complaint is the traffic going through the St. Amant CBD to get there. That downtown rush hour traffic from Leaders to Smiley’s Donuts is a bitch at 7:00am.

I’m very happy. Wife and I moved here 15+ years ago before kids were anywhere near our radar. We’ve lucked out with a great experience in the AP school system and now, zoned for Prairieville High. It’s a few years away for us but I expect it will be one of, if not the, top HS in the state. Results may vary, but so far we’ve had nothing but good experiences with their schools both education and faculty related

It doesn’t affect us at all in the northwestern corner of the parish. We already got rezoned to Bullion & Bluff when those schools opened, and we’re still in Dutchtown with the new maps. Our oldest could go to Dtown or Pville next year since her mom is zoned to Pville, but she’s staying at Dutchtown since she’s involved in sports & other activities. Our youngest is going to private school (nothing to do with Ascension schools).

All that and probably the worst mascot and color scheme in the whole parish. The damn football stadium is called surge stadium

The only negative I’ve heard is the branding and the Mascot. Apparently the company who they paid for that disaster also did Texas A&M which explains the gayness

We got lucky. Bought a little over an acre a while back to build and were waiting on the final map to decide what to do. The land is off hwy 42(north) and he could've ended up at St Amant or Prairieville high. Nothing wrong with St Amant, but I can imagine him catching the bus or us bringing him out that way. Ended up at the same schools he's in now with oak grove, Prairieville middle then Prairieville high.

I haven’t heard this, would be great if true.

My daughter swims for Crawfish and will be attending the school next year.

Source?

I'm still wondering how the drainage will hold up in that area with all the extra concrete, etc.

Why is this considered state of the art? I know it looks good and more importantly as for as the school goes, no one has to paint the field and keep up with the grass, but studies show that turf fields are not that great on the knees and that more knee injuries happen on turf fields. Grass is the safest surface to play on, plus it doesn't get hot as turf does.

Personally I'm pissed but that's just because half of my friend group is being sent to the school. This is my last year with my friend group intact before we all get split
