Before we moved I had gotten to the point that I would much rather cook steaks for people than have a boil, it’s so much mess and expense.
Get a whole ribeye or tenderloin and have a steak party instead with just a few sheet pans and and silverware to clean up

I actually prefer it cooled off a bit and I love it left over straight from the fridge. I feel like I can get all the spices and flavors better when my mouth isn’t on fire from the heat of the boil.

I’d rather boiled shrimp or crabs…but I really like the boil flavor. We boil artichokes, mushrooms, corn and potatoes often…sometimes green peanuts.
The actual crawfish…early season, when it’s damn expensive, are my favorite. I can go through a 5lb tray happily…probably a better buy to just go get a $55 ribeye and a nice restaurant…to be honest.

I like boiled crawfish but just consider for a moment what we have to do to those ditch dwelling frickers to make them edible.

not to mention their feelings…. Can you imagine watching all of your little clawed family members being boiled alive along with corn, potatoes, and lemons?

I like a crawfish boil. I do agree I don’t like other crawfish dishes tho

Yes, same thing happened to me. Used to absolutely love them, then over time just lost the appeal, I can’t really explain why. I do love the event of the crawfish boil and love cooking them for people. Shrimp, crabs, scallops on the other hand….. getting hungry just talking about it.

The only ones I ever left a table of were boiled in water and sprinkled in an ice chest. They tasted like bait smells and were gamey AF.
I do tire of them towards the end of the boiling season. There's only so many times I want that much salt. It's also primarily the only time I drink beer. I get swollen fingers and feel like a bloated balloon for a few hours.

After getting 2 bouts of food poisoning from mudbugs I now get nauseous just thinking about eating them. Doesn't help that I now have a bunch of GI issues piled one on another too.

Boiled crawfish is still 10/10 for me. Crawfish in other food sucks im with you

Not me, I love crawfish in all of it’s culinary forms.

I get burned out, but I’m not sure that’s the same thing. After boil, leftovers, etc. there comes a point where I just don’t want stuff to taste like crawfish for a while. Doesn’t last all that long .

I've not grown to dislike them, but have come to terms that the older I've gotten, the less they like my digestive system.
When younger you could put a 15 lb. pile of them in front of me with the extra fixings and I'd go through that with no problem------and go about my business like normal.
Now, I eat between 6-8 lbs., some of the fixings and I better be close to home because the porcelain gods will be calling shortly.
Sucks to get older when it comes to some things.

dishes with crawfish in them are still quite enjoyable to me, but i think the vast majority would be better with good quality shrimp.
i will never get tired of a crawfish boil.

The only things I don’t like about crawfish:
1. The smell after a boil
2. The effort of pealing them
3. How bland most people’s etouffee is (a good etouffee is GREAT, but rare)
4. The price
Crawfish taste awesome and impart a lot of flavor to the dishes they’re incorporated into.

I don't mind crawfish tails.
Crawfish boils are just another excuse to get drunk.

I still and will always love eating and cooking crawfish. I make sure to boil extra so I can put them in the freezer for other dishes when they are out of season. I also save the rest of the sausage/veggies thats left. I wont freeze potatos but I freeze the rest.
The sound of the jets makes me happy

I still eat boiled crawfish. But sometime in my 30s I lost my taste for most seafood. I can’t stand the taste of most fish. Won’t eat shrimp cooked any way. When I force myself to try fish or shrimp all I taste is ocean or swamp water. Can’t explain it. Sucks. Especially living in Louisiana.

i am sort of the same. I will eat them, but not one of those people that go crazy for them. Partly from working for a crawfish catering company i guess

I like them about once per season and that's enough.
