Does anyone besides teachers and bankers get today off as a holiday?

First off I have no issue with it, I feel like everyone should work half a day on Fridays (besides you retail and restaurant folks).
I remember having Veterans Day programs when I was in school, but we still were in school those days.
This year Veterans day falls on a Saturday, so we get the day before Veterans day off work... And it just feels like an odd way to honor their sacrifice, by taking off work the day before the day we observe their sacrifice.

Every state employee is off today.

I know a handful of guys that told folks not to call them as it's a holiday. THey just do that to get some quiet time to sort through emails and write up projects, not actually take a siesta.

Today is a paid holiday for us. Sent out an email yesterday evening thanking Brian the only Veteran in our department for his service
I'm neither a banker, teacher, not a government employee:usa.

Teachers don’t celebrate and get off Veterans Day in woke school districts.

when a holiday falls on a Saturday, typically banks and government doesn't get the friday off. If it falls on Sunday they will get Monday off. Not sure why.

That’s a weird way to describe prison, but it makes sense.

Most of my clients (banking) are off but we're still working. Should be nice and quiet though
