They had no limits?
There was an informed consent law that required doctors to provide an informational pamphlet to those choosing to get an abortion.
Kasich vetoed heartbeat in 2016. DeWine signed it in 2019 essentially banning abortion at 5 week, with no exceptions for rape or incest.
That is current law, until today.

Feds should stay out of it. States rights issue .

The 5 week was dependent on the overturn of Roe?
Is the law that passed tonight stricter than what was in place 7 years ago or so?

It's pretty clear to everyone what the amendment will do.
Really? Because it could also be interpeted to ensure minor sex changes, access to hormone medication, and a lot of other non-abortion related items...

Biggest reason I don’t really care about abortion. The US would be 50 years closer to it’s upcoming hellscape if not for abortion.

Yes. And was being held up in court as well.

What was passed tonight guarantees the ability to get an abortion based on certain factors.
Here is the language:
Ohio Secretary of State

Here is the language for OH Amendment 1
• Establish ni the Constitution of the State of Ohio an individual right ot one's own reproductive medical treatment, including but not limited ot abortion;
• Create legal protections for any person or entity that assists a person with receiving reproductive medical treatment, including but not limited to abortion;
• Prohibit the State from directly or indirectly burdening, penalizing, or prohibiting abortion before an unborn child si determined to be viable, unless the State demonstrates that it is using the least restrictive means;
• Grant a pregnant woman's treating physician the authority ot determine, on a case-by-case basis, whether an unborn child si viable;
• Only allow the State to prohibit an abortion after an unborn child is determined by a pregnant woman's treating physician to be viable and only fi the physician does not consider the abortion necessary to protect the pregnant woman's life or health; and
• Always allow an unborn child to be aborted at any stage of pregnancy, regardless of viability if, ni the treating physician's determination, the abortion si necessary ot protect the pregnant woman's life or health.
The language is vague about what one own reproductive medical treatment is beyond abortion, Will this allow minors to transition without parental consent? Minors to have an abortion without consent of a parent? It is not clear. Also it puts the determinants of viability up to the the attendant physician. So all you would need for a late term abortion is a willing physician.

24 weeks.
Then reduced to 20 weeks because neonatal surgery required anesthesia for fetuses at 20 weeks because their nervous system could sense pain at 20 weeks, per the science.
For some reason, they went to the heartbeat bill last year.

Because they had a super majority in both chambers and a Governor proud to sign it.
DeWine took to the airwaves saying that there needed to change the law in recent days to include some exceptions because they knew internal polling wasn't good for the No side.

A right was taken? No abortions have happened since the overturn of Roe?
In some states. Republicans need to stop fighting against abortion and instead simply say it is a state issue and not a federal issue.

I think republicans need to come off this, at least as a talking point.
I am as diehard republican as they come, but I could absolutely not give two shits if someone gets an abortion. Would it be better if there was forethought to not get pregnant, yes. Adoption, yes. But honestly, it’s just not realistic to think people are smart enough to make sound decisions. Republicans need to move on.
The talking point is costing elections.

They had that right. It lead to pregnancy. They should no more "have the right" to murder to avoid responsibility than a man killing his landlord to avoid the rent. But we can't call it killing and we can't call it a life. They don't have the guts to take responsibility for what their position really is.
Murder isn't something to be brushed aside for political expediency. If that's how you feel, I feel sorry for you.

Same. Demographics would be where they are now, but 40 years ago. We’d have turned into Brazil

What percentage of people who currently vote Dem do you think would suddenly start voting Rep, should the GOP abandon its pro-life stance?

Ohio was 55/45 pro abortion tonight and Trump won Ohio in 2016 and 2020.
Mike DeWine, a unabashed and proud pro life candidate, easily was elected twice as Governor.

The fact that you think saving unborn children is just a cheap talking point.. you need to do some serious soul searching. I challenge anyone who “doesn’t give 2 shits” about it go look up what happens in a procedure. Watch videos of a late term abortion.
