Haha I love Treys game, but we’re on year 3 and haven’t seen this type of play from him or anyone on this team in the last 10 years

This clearly is just a troll thread started by some 13 year old on mommy’s computer. Best to simply ignore something so painfully stupid.

BI has been shot but you can get way more than Jarrett Allen for him. Centers are a dime a dozen. If I’m trading BI for a center it better be a star center or one that can’t shoot 3s. Allen is none of those

Maybe I think we value BI more than the league does. Jarrett like BI is a one time all star as well. And I disagree good defensive athletic rebounding centers are not a dime a dozen, just look at our roster. I wish we could get more and Griff wants more as well. But he wont get what he wants. Frankly, I think trading BI, even if its for less than what we want is addition by subtraction.

As big of a fan of drafting Hawkins as I am, I didn't expect this kind of game from him this quickly.

I do find it funny that all of those people are eating crow right now though. Knocked him all throughout the draft into the summer league and even preseason without ever really looking at how he played in college.

His game translates because he never stops moving on both ends and his shot is 1000% legit.

But they all wanted some bum arse g league "star"...

Hawkins looking like this now is huge. I had hoped he would be a CJ expensive 6th man replacement in a year or 2. He could be a CJ starter replacement. And if you end up picking CJ over BI, you just have one more shooter with gravity to put around Zion.

I love how the Pels replace Herb with Dyson so we have a high level wing defender on the floor for 48 minutes. It feels like we can finally do that with shooters once Trey and CJ are back.

I’m happy to admit how wrong I was about Hawkins. Feels great to be wrong.

Let me clarify this. Posted this before going to bed. I still stand by it though.

We are under 10 games into his rookie campaign and he has started no more than 3 games.

In those games he has shown:
1. An ability yo hit the open 3
2. An ability to hit a 3 off a screen and with a quick arse trigger
3. An ability to pump fake and step in and hit the midrange
4. An ability to drive to the basket when the defense overplays their hand
5. A good job at making the right play, making the extra pass, or settling down and not getting too quick
6. He hustles on defense even though it’s not his speciality
7. He has effort to rebound the ball
8. He keeps moving on offense without the ball

So, have we seen a 30 point dominant game from other guys in the last 10 years? Sure.

Have we seen Zion, BI, or CJ just light it up? Sure

But Hawkins showing all of this maturity and skill in limited minutes as a pro is something we HAVE NOT SEEN from any of our rookies in the last 10 years. He has potential to be a team leader, dog, and closer for this team because of the combination of his skill and killer instinct. A killer instinct that many of us have questioned of our other stars at times.

The question with Trey is can he be more than a role player? A lot of people are penciling him in as Ingram's replacement, and while that may end up being what technically happens, I'm not sure Trey is a 25ppg scorer.

Yes he has the physical tools and skills to become a scorer, but he wasn't that guy in college and hasn't shown he's that guy in the pros yet. If you asked me to bet today on who is averaging more points in 2-3 years, Trey or Hawkins, I'd say Hawkins, assuming both are starting.

There is nothing wrong with Trey becoming "just" an elite role player. If he's more than that the league is probably in trouble because he has the tools and skills to be great.
