Vermont is rated Safest State in America - Louisiana is at 50.

Of course, no permits needed to carry a gun in Vermont. More guns equals less crime, don't ya think? State law preempts local governments from regulating the possession, ownership, transfer, carrying, registration or licensing of firearms. The state neither issues nor requires a permit to carry a weapon on one's person, openly or concealed. This is known in the U.S. as constitutional carry. The phrase "constitutional carry" reflects the view that the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution does not abide restrictions on gun rights, including the right to carry or bear arms.

Curious but, what is the demographic make-up of Vermont?
Lots of factors related to crime, gun permit regulations isn't one of the primary ones.
If there was a NOLA type 3rd Ward location in Vermont, you'd see a spike in those numbers.

I remember looking at demographics and came across Vermont and said wow, that's the best in the country. My friend not from the south looked at me like I was crazy.
