Airbnb “Single Bedroom” Rentals?

Has anyone ever stayed at an Airbnb that was basically a bedroom in someone’s house that has a shared bathroom?
I’m going to be traveling in a rural area of TX next month and I came across a single bedroom on Airbnb for $65/night which is way cheaper than a nearby hotel that has poor reviews.
The host has all five star reviews, but I’m not sure how comfortable I would be spending the night in a strangers house.
Added info- I am a male and the host is good looking female

I haven’t but know people who have done this while traveling. It doesn’t seem like a big deal if the person has good reviews.

I think your user name says it all, baw.
But frick that, I want to be in the equivalent of a Fairfield Inn where nobody knows who I am, except the front desk agent. As long as no bugs.

I’ve done it several times. No big deal if they have good reviews.
Sounds like a no-brainer to me

I have but the bathroom was not shared. A shared bathroom would be no bueno for me.

I've stayed in a single room in someone else's home a few times but I think every time the bathroom was exclusively mine even if it wasn't attached to the room. Like there'd be no chance of someone else needing to use it.
Honestly as long as the host has all 5* reviews I wouldn't hesitate based on your description.

I've done it before when I was younger and single. If the reviews are there it's going to be fine, especially if you're in and out in ~12 hours. I do carry a weapon and if I didn't I'd be a bit more worried.

Yes, several times. Usually the homeowner lives on an upper level, and rents out the basement, or a suite on the opposite side of the house from their bedroom. Have never shared a bathroom, however.
Have never encountered any problems with any of my hosts. Airbnb makes it easy to report issues, and ime follows up pretty thoroughly. I prefer using the platform to booking a hotel. I’m usually traveling with “toys” (bike, kayak), and like not having to stress about anyone messing with my stuff. Also, enjoy knowing that I’m assisting a fellow American to meet their financial obligations. I use the filters, and vet my hosts pretty thoroughly, to screen out the bad actors as best as I can.

That’s how you end up in a bathtub full of ice with a kidney missing.

I have done this plenty, while traveling solo or with a travel companion. Every experience has been first rate. It’s somewhat shocking how many single ladies host strangers in their homes, and everyone has seemed very comfortable, and I’ve met some friends I’ve stayed in touch with after my stay. My former company didn’t allow use of AirBnB or VRBO for business travel, so I did a LOT of hotel stays, always enjoyed the AirBnB stays for my leisure travel more.

Yeah no good looking female with an ounce of common sense is letting random dudes crash at her place without some sort of catch. That is a safety nightmare.

One of my most normal friends does this stuff. He is an attorney and can afford nice lodging. I was shocked when he told me he travels like this, but he enjoys it and enjoys meeting the people. I still think it’s weird AF and he will end up getting Jeffrey Dahmered by some nut.
To my knowledge he has never had relations with any of the hosts.

We’ve done it once and didn’t have any issues - wouldnt seek this out again because we definitely prefer having the place to ourselves - but if a situation arose where we had the choice of a crappy hotel or a highly rated shared space BNB we’d do the shared BNB without a second thought.

I would do it if I was single and traveling.
But on the flip side, no way in hell am I letting some random rent out a room in my home. No fricking way

This is how Airbnb started, it stands for Air Bed and breakfast. But I think its absolutely crazy to stay with someone without each party having private locked entrances and space. Its one thing to share like a patio or something.
